This one is na with a header.... and a blown motor... let’s not talk about that though....

And that one is a stock turbo that is getting a newer generation motor.... I really need to get it done...

I gotta admit, after seeing the design of the 5.7's exhaust manifold (4-2-1), I don't really see a point in headers on this engine. Throw on the TRD exhaust to make it true duels and I'd say you're set. The cost of headers + installation versus the performance gains doesn't really seem worth it. Maybe spend the money on a tune instead...

    ike that.
I agree, but I would make damn sure that the aftermarket cat-back system I am considering does not rob me of low end torque.

Thing with long tubes is that they are generally tuned to scavenge better and the collector design is MUCH better. If you're gonna fork out the cash for a dyno tune, figure might as well spend the money on long tubes to get 40ish more hp and 30-40ish more torque. Also, true dual exhaust isn't good. You want a crossover or x pipe in there to create a vacuum in the pipes of the non-firing cylinder at the time. True dual exhaust are known to rob power, kind of like the TRD exhaust.

Agreed! When I say "tune", I mean one of those hand-held tuners. If you are paying for a dyno tune, then knock yourself out with headers! Also, how do true duals rob low-end power? I've always heard it but do not know the physics behind it. Is it along the same lines of having too big of an OD on pipe?

You forgot the interfooler most fake non-turbo cars sport.

Most mechanics that I have encountered don't know jack about tuning vehicles. They are mostly part changers that like throwing parts at a problem they misdiagnose most of the time, including stealerships, although there might be an incentive there to sell parts they don't need.

Yup. Tuning is more of a custom thing. Joe Shmoe at the local shop isn't gonna help you much. And if you go to a tuning shop that doesn't have a dino... street tunes will never be as good as a Dino base tune.

As for the interfooler... we gonna judge if I have one for my tundra? :anonymous::anonymous::anonymous:

A good tuner should do both, first a dyno tune, and after go for a drive to check how the car is doing with the tuner in the passenger seat.

    This.

A dyno is only as good as the person using it. At the end of the day, the car should be driven to mimic real world conditions. That’s the only way to dynamically test the calculations are correct for the vehicles requirements. Most dyno runs are for power band. Driveability has to be done on the street.

When I talked to Keith at Dirty Deeds,he really impressed me with his knowledge of exhaust systems. I always do research before I buy anything for my trucks.we talked for 1 1/2 hours on the phone about our trucks, exhaust systems and other things. He is why I have BAMufflers and x-pipe on my tundra and would recommend him to anyone!

Don't see why need headers, superchargers, or turbos when stickers can do the same thing;):);):)
