I have installed several different sets of these CMC’s and highly recommend using the ones from @Relentless.

I just recommended this to member in Denver.

I like to recommend quality products. So, thank you. I have installed the straight ones without the bend....that sucks.

Do not. I didn't think it was as much of an issue for the 00-06s

Noticed these are not in stock online. What would the time frame be to have them available?

@RelentlessFabrication Thanks for making what many say is a great product. The site says these are on backorder. If I purchase, do you have an approximate timeframe for when they will be available? I'm looking to get the cab mount chop done in the next month or so. Thanks!

@Relentless I picked these up local yesterday afternoon and got them tacked in last night. I was just going to cut up some 3/16" sheet and be done with it, but after I saw the bend and all happy folks, I have to say that was a good twenty-something dollars spent.

    Thanks Eric!

Did you gain a decent amount of clearance? I had it at a shop just today and the guy who will eventually do the chop/weld said he thinks adding the plates will negate most of the clearance you gain from the chop. His advice was to just chop the mount, and not weld the plates on. I know Relentless' website says there's a gain of about 1.25" if done correctly - just trying to deconflict the conflicting statements that are causing conflict in my conflicted brain. So, the amount of clearance you gain will depend on the cut. Not sure if the guy you talked to actually took a look or not, but the plate is 1/4". I cut out roughly 1 1/4" and inset the plate instead of setting the plate on the outside (which makes welding much easier) then tacked it up. So, where it counts, I gained 1.25"± 0.1". I only tacked them because I might take out more if needed. I had room for maybe another 1/2 inch.

I did this pre-35s, mostly because I run a 1.25" spacer, Rock Warrior wheels, and am strapping on 35x12.5r17 Nitto Trail Grapplers which actually measure out at 34.84" 13.19".

On the Tundra, it's not the tire height that gets ya, it's the width.

Cool, good to hear. I'll prob have them weld the plate on then. I'm running 37 12.50 20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers & have rub only in reverse at full cut. Let off half a turn of the wheel & it stops rubbing - so it's not too bad.

Though he did say that the plate is essentially for aesthetics, as it really doesn't contribute to the integrity of the cab mount...that the chop itself doesn't diminish the cab mount's structural integrity. I was a bit surprised at that. It obviously depends on how much you cut off, but not matter how much you cut, you're still weakening it to some degree. (The guy did take a look at it, with the plates in hand.)

You have the more aggressive Nitto tread - how you liking the Trail Grapplers? I thought about getting them, but opted for the Ridge Grapplers for quieter highway driving (I barely hear them) - I'm rarely offroad with them. Are the Trail G's very loud on highway?

I wouldn't go that far, but I can say that I know guys who just covered it with plastic and have been "heavy wheeling" for years, mostly 2nd gen Tacomas. Any time you box something in, it will create a stronger support, but it's not going to break the mount unless something else is already cracked, in which case, you'd already know.

That, sir, will be answered tomorrow. I almost went with the ProComp MT2s again (that's what I run on my Taco) but I got a killer deal on the Nitto for Cyber Monday, so, as soon as I know, I'll let ya know. I just saw the actual width and decided the cut would be in my best interest.

Definitely post when you've driven with them. Where'd you find the Nitto deal? I didn't find anything at all for 37" Ridge Grapplers.

Was gonna say, the bend is what made me decide to order them from Relentless as opposed to BAMF. Shipped today. Looking forward chopping and getting them burned in...

The bend is really cool, as the skinny outer part of the mount support is the tire-biter.

If you're doing this yourself, pay close mind to your 'rear' cut, i.e. the vertical cut closest to the middle of the vehicle. Underestimate your cut, then gradually take more material away until it fits snug. Filling in a gap with weld because you rushed the cut is a pain in the ass because of that rubber mount. It heats up so quickly, then you have to sit there like a doof and let it cool down before continuing, ask me how I found out. XD

Yep, I’ll be doing it myself, so appreciate that. I figured it’d be a slow job just to avoid heating up the body mount. Figured my air compressor should help a little though...

Yeah it helps, so did the 15*F temp outside. Honestly I found it easiest to just jump from one side to the other. By the time I moved over, sorted out my next spots, I just ran two ~1 inch beads on opposite sides of the plate. Once I got a rhythm down, I was golden.

Regardless, the rubber will smoke a little bit, that's where the compressor with air gun tool comes in handy.

They are quiet until freeway, not a lot of noise, but I can hear them if music is off.

    Cleared 35 12.5 r17 all day with 3"coils Eibach/Toytec on 1.25 spaced RW wheels.

Give Brittony a shout at 775-200-0544 between 9am-5pm Pacific (M-F) or email her at sales@relentlessfabrication.com

She'll be able to give you more real time shipping info. They usually go out USPS Priority so it should be pretty fast.
