Lol, I’m not near my truck atm. iirc, the Boot Screen changer is in advanced options pw 666888. Use any pic off google that is 768x1024 or crop one of your own, otherwise it may stretch out funny. Same dimensions for that race Tundra on my Launcher background.

CWG Launcher is a free apk from multiple sources, it’s basically a home screen skin. Download the latest version onto a USB stick and sideload it. Find the apk on your connected USB using the File icon at the top, install it by tapping and following the prompts. Once installed, you’ll see it in your App list to run it. Choose it as your default screen. Don’t worry, mess up, don’t like it, just go into your App list and uninstall/delete, your old screen just comes back. Customize as you wish once you run it, hold and drag the screen up to do changes. You can literally make any widget do what an android tablet is capable of. Since we lost outside temp, I might add a Weather widget to the homescreen, but it means it needs network connection for live updates.

You can try other themes within the app, MediaBox is my fave.

Just downloaded and installed it. FYI, you can go to the apps and open google play. Search for it there and install it also.

This is awesome! I don’t feel as bad now rating the radio a 7 out of 10. I was being generous giving it an extra “star” and was going to give a 6, but things like this are making it better.

    Thanks!

I had that problem with waze when I first installed the HU. I deleted it and reinstalled it from the Play store. I don’t think you can do that same thing with Play though as i thinks it’s tied to the OS. The only fix I would think is either resetting the unit or wiping reinstalling. I’ve never done that on a tablet though so I don’t know if it’s possible. Or just fuck it and keep side loading apps.

I tried sideloading a new Play to fix it, no dice. I’ll maybe try an older version. At worst I’ll continue siding new apk’s as you said. Did you get TomTom and local maps on? I got Spotify Unlimited skips, Pandora doesn’t work in Canada unless it’s through a VPN so I didn’t bother.

Didn’t use Tom Tom. The ihere Nav app that came preloaded seems pretty good. I installed waze as well. But that seems to crash after every 30-45 min and I have to restart it. You can load a vpn on Android so it runs automatically when you start. Same with iOS I think.

Just would like to share an easy fix to fitting in your 2nd gen units, it seems there is a notch at the top of the display that they at Phoenix would notch out. On my unit it was not fully notched out enough making the top of the frame push out on either side of the frame. Also helps if you do a pre install without clips and any wires hooked up to make sure it fits all the way.

Please refer to post #1920 for additional trimming for a good fit.

Great write up/pics. This should be stickied and would avoid a big headache for those affected trying to force it in and can’t figure out why before damaging their digitizer or cracking the screen. Mine’s pretty flush and went in no problem like a glove but I’m gonna take a look at the notch again when I install a front cam.

Mine would not push in all the way at first so I unclipped the main harness from the dash and was able to push the wires further back. Once I did this the unit fitted perfectly

There definitely some give and take. The only thing I've tested so far is trying to rum CarPlay and the AUX source (XM receiver) and they do not run together. It's strange because I can run the Waze nav app and XM together. The CarPlay will come in handy for my use of the iPhone nav, which I like, hands free calling and the use of Siri assist.

What you mean? If you go to setting and advanced settings where you can change your WiFi there is a sound setting there.

It's in the advanced settings. There is an option to save volume. I don't remember the exact wording but I've set mine to save the volume level when turned off

Got mine two days ago and this thing is really really lagging. It couldn't keep one app in the background , dono if its a bad install(Had two wires remaining) or its a faulty unit.

Anyway, I contacted the manufacturer and they said they will solve it :notsure:
P.s I bought it from aliexpress they had faster shipping.

Hey if anyone can give me step by step on how to turn down the boot up volume it would be much appreciated. It's at 10 and would like it set at 1 or 2.

Found another thing that needs to be trimmed for a bettor fitting head unit. Last time I fitted it up with no clips and after some trimming it fit great post #1899 . But today I noticed it was still not staying put on the two top clips. After some investigating the top center tab on dash needs to be trimmed a bit so the metal part of the LCD does not make contact. Without the clips it sat just below the tab that was catching.

    Catching tab
    20181105_015153.jpg

Part that was catching, you can see the indents from LCD metal frame that catches.
    20181105_014613.jpg

    Trimmed off20181105_015003.jpg
    Now it finally fits good.

I stumbled across this app looking for a way to record my 0 to 60 times, the app is called Ulysse Speedometer from play store.(free)

    https://download.cnet.com/Ulysse-Speedometer/3000-2056_4-75453992.html
    20181104_233436.jpg
The other thing I did was to program Ulysse Speedometer into the nav button so that any program I started using Ulysse Speedometer would start then I would just hit the nav button and Ulysse Speedometer would open back up without closing the radio or any other program I started with it. It also has a place if you want store/play music of your own.

    I bought it from Aliexpress(KiriNavi).
Lagging : choppy music (online and offline), apps taking ages to load, slow touch responsiveness, AC is on but not reflecting on the screen. Could this be a bad installation?
