I just punched all the part numbers Bruce listed into several dealer online parts websites. Then I talked to my local parts guy and he matched or beat the best quote I got. If I remember correctly your dealer Bruce Toyota of El Cajon has good online pricing.
The crossmember was on national backorder when I ordered but should be in around 10/26.
Thanks for putting this thread together Bruce.

    Thanks John!

And then you are gonna come over and we are going to install it... yay!

and yeah Toyota Santee, and toyota el cajon are loosley tied together. but they have good pricing. BUt yes matching is key.

i ordered online. my local parts guy was a bit more expensive, but not much, but the tax i would've had to pay and the hassle to get there made shipping it directly to my work worth the money. tank is shipping today. still waiting on the rest of the stuff from sparks (sparks showed the tank disco, so i ordered it from another dealer)

My issue with my local dealer would be that he/they would accuse me of ruining my truck. I would rather not deal with them until I need a new vehicle!

what really, my dealer loves hearing about all the different mods i do. Especially when its something that involves upgrades using toyota parts. your dealer must suck.

Did we get any verification on if Toyota has actually stopped making the 38 gallon tank? The more I look into it, the better the stock tank sounds.

This is why I am pursuing this more now, I was planning on doing it next year, but the options are getting slim with the TF one going away, and I am not sure how long the LRA will stick around (haven't heard anything or contacted them, no rumors!). I will probably at least get the 38g tank then source the rest of the parts next year. I would have went this route originally, but the impression was the cross member was in the way, and needed everything on the diagram. My truck doesn't get off two tracks, but I do tow a camper and not happy with how fast the gas goes away.

yeah when i tow my boat it was awful.. but yeah 38 gal is the way to go. Im sure if the stock tundra tanks go a company will pick up the contract and make aftermarket replacements.. there is no way toyota would allow 0 replacement options.

I see that on multiple sites too, but there has to be a replacement on its way. I can't imagine Toyota not having a OEM replacement for a currently offered tank.

i totally agree. that would not make any sense. Id imagine they have a new vendor to produce the "aftermarket" tanks, and not offer these from the initial production run.

I wonder if the 26 gal is discontinued? It is essentially the same materials, just smaller. But nobody is buying those after the fact.....

I ran into a little hick-up. I found a responsive Toyota parts dealer and found out the support (51038-0c040) is discontinued. I am on hold now because I can't see buying the rest of the stuff if there is no way to mount it. I am going to check some other sources for that, but I assume all the parts come from the same place :(

Well shit... I mean a custom cross member could be made.. it’s only supporting the front of the tank not structural to the truck... but damn what is Toyota thinking... might be time to reach out to them and see what’s up.. I’ll discuss w some people I know

Let me know what you come up with. This is strange behavior. I hope nobodies vehicle gets wrecked but not totaled in that region of the truck, or they might be getting a 26 gal as a replacement :) I am contemplating the LRA tank now, or waiting til next year and see what plays out on this. I doubt the cross-member would be removable from a existing frame, and don't have the means to get a custom one made (would involve towing truck mid install)

I asked the vender Roman from Toyota of Cool Springs about it and he said the cross member is not showing up discontinued but is out of stock at all the distribution centers. He wasn’t sure but said it could be a while before he could get one.

This sounds more realistic. They can't just make these tanks discontinued, they're parts for brand new trucks. They're probably just having supplier issues.

if it's not a common replacement part, it makes perfect sense to not continue to make the part. plus, with 41 in the country and who knows how many out of country (although the part doesn't run on a couple foreign sights i know, so 38 gln may not be used in other markets), they probably figure there is plenty for the future. there is no pricing on the 38 gallon in their parts catalog, which is usually not a good sign. there are no laws governing how long a manufacturer has to produce parts for a vehicle.

either way, i got mine, so make the 41 left only 40 left :D

I will go this route if the crossmember comes back in stock and hope there is still tanks available then. If not I might have to go the 46 gal way. This way would allow me to break up the purchase in stages: tank & crossmember, rest of parts, heat shields (if needed) and then skid (probably 3rd party) later.
For those who have the "off road" straps how long do the threaded studs stick down? Assuming that is what is on there.....

Yep I know was looking into the LRA tank. There is another thread comparing it to the TF on this forum.
