    There is no racing association on this planet that would want you to run an oxygen tank in a race car. That's a pressurized system and that is a BOMB. Oxygen is flammable. The only kind of pressurized cylinders allowed in racecars is nitrogen and that's for the impact gun.

    There is a system called a Parker Pumper. It's filtered fan that blows clean air into the drivers helmets.

    Why no cage? If you want it done right, it will cost you a LOT. I'm not talking about the store bought bolt together cage that's mild steel with a seem. I'm talking about a properly fabricated cage where the interior of the truck is stripped and it's caged bumper to bumper with DOM 4130 chromoly.

    This is a roll cage kit built by Solo Motorsports for a Ford Bronco. 1.75" DOM tubing.

    Sell's for $2500. And that's if you weld it yourself. For them to weld it, is another $500. Notice the tie in points to the frame. 8 points of connection to the frame, it doesn't penetrate the firewall either. It's just the cab. And there's still no triangulation aside from the roof bars. Nice for a prerunner or chase truck, but not enough to race with. Plus, you still have to gut the inside of your truck to weld it.

    If you're going to cage your truck, you're going to do it right the first time. If you're going to do it right the first time, you're going to spend a lot of money. If you're not going to do it right the first time, it's going to cost you a lot of money to have it done right the second time.

    But if you're really considering caging your daily driver, consider getting a offroad vehicle for the purpose alone. Rock crawler, or a 4 seat prerunner. Even factory UTVs don't have a rollcage. They have a "roof support system". A fabricated bolt on rollcage will cost you up to $3000. https://utvactionmag.com/utv-roll-cage-buyers-guide/

    All really good discussion. Like I said before, high speed and low speed are different animals. And yes, cages are a little expensive if you use good materials. The cage I put in my Bronco crawler was around $1500, but I did a of the fab work and welding myself. But, for low speed applications, it was fine. I even had a fairly simple finite element model that I built of the cage attached to a crude model of my Bronco that I put through a couple of simulations. I hadn't tied it to the frame before I sold the truck, but had plans to. But, $1500 to $3000 is not much when you consider what it is you are trying to protect. Especially when you have builds in excess of $30K.

    So, I agree - if you are going to do it, then do it right. And if your building your truck for speed, then doing it "right" would be an extreme amount of money, and would involve a lot of design and fab work. I guess I was just thinking more along the lines of the rock crawling vids I have seen lately on this site. Vids of large, lumbering, beastly Tundras tackling some technical terrain and slow speeds. It would still be a pain in the butt, but it wouldn't be "that horrible" to put in a basic roll protection system in the cab. Gut the cab, cover important stuff, get your tube bender and notcher, light the welder up, and go to town.

    Typical Toyota... but think about how much harder it would be to fit a tundra in to spots with an exo...

    Pretty much. The guy I bought my first 4runner from had an exo on he crawler... seen a couple others on 4runners and pick ups

    They are around for sure. Normally though when someone goes that far on an exo, they don’t drive it on the street anymore
