Nah, he was a good guy. That truck is facing the other way as proof. If he was an ass, we'd have helped him roll it (catch my drift?).

I told him I'll be the solo Tundra on a Raptor run if opportunity presents.

Bummed I missed a lot of you all! Means we need to do this again!

My group got stuck behind a slow train of Jeeps so that delayed our rendezvous with you all at Big Pine, but we rallied to Crab Flats to have some beers with those camping!

    Better yet :sawzall:

Fortunately that part of my bedside was damaged when I bought the truck and I’ll be cutting it off anyways when I high clearance my bumper. Actually pretty stoked on the damaged since it didn’t effect anything that will stay on the truck.

@BestGen also had a great idea- sharpie the trail number next to the hit

Here’s what I have to share. Sorry, not of the the actual trail run, I was a little behind schedule to join in on that. Hopefully more will post pictures soon as I’d like to see more of it!

Have this as well, but the bf-f8hp. Don't have a HAM license, but I have it on a family radio service on a locked channel with my friend when we go on roadtrips. I guess I need a HAM license also if I'm going out to join you guys one day.

Let us know when you can make a meet. I wasn't involved in the discussion, but heard maybe Joshua Tree might need exploring in October....

The handhelds described don't transmit or receive over great distance, in some cases (so I've read ), they won't span a full mile with trees and mountains between or-- for more practical explanation-- from front to back of a Big SoCal Meet-up (i.e. anywhere @Marty McFly shows up). So there's little chance of interfereing with others' licensed use of the frequencies.

The people that mount the more high-powered HAMs to their trucks (that can span real distances) need licenses.

And, um, to be clear, I am not advocating that anyone use a HAM without a license....

I don’t have a license. But I primarily try to use 151.880 which is a MURS frequency and doesn’t require a license.

151.625 is “weatherman” and idk if it requires on or not.
But to @Sunnier ’s point, these radios are so small and low power that they can’t transmit far enough to cause a problem.
Ya using these radios are small fish in a big pond kinda thing.

With that said, getting your HAM license is supposedly pretty easy and inexpensive for any who would prefer to have it.

I don’t plan on getting a HAM license. And after seeing that 8yr old kid driving a Chevy Silverado, apparently anything goes on the trails

A HAM license is a good idea but if you don't have one the FRS frequencies don't require a license.

"The Family Radio Service is an improved walkie-talkie radio system authorized in the United States since 1996. This personal radio service uses channelized frequencies around 462 and 467 MHz in the ultra high frequency band."

I just copied a little snip-it. It is, being regulated by a government entity, much more convoluted but a search for FRS frequencies will provide plenty of legalese for "sleep aid" reading.
