So my old shop vac finally kicked the bucket today half-way through detailing the Tundra and the 4Runner. It survived through several years of general garage clean-up, a full frame-up Bronco restoration, and a full home re-model. So I guess it did good.

But, I didn't ever think it was that great of a unit. It sort of "sucked".....or didn't. o_O

Looking for some opinions on a good, strong unit. I don't want to mess around - something that will suck paint off of walls. My previous shop vac claimed it was 6.0 peak HP - but it didn't ever seem that powerful to me.

Anyway, just looking for some real world experiences and suggestions.

    Thanks!

I have had good luck with the rigid shop vacs for general clean up and detailing. That being said when sanding floors we use a Oneida vac that has a warning label on it that states to keep away from your face. It will suck the eyeball right out of your head.

That is what I am talking about - a unit that comes with a warning involving possible bodily harm!

TC long travel. Deaver 420 SU leaf packs.
Festool is worth looking at if you're into woodwork. Fein makes a nice quiet vac too. My Fein vacs have lasted for years and taken serious abuse. Spendy, I know, but they last.
