That never works. I distributed them across an even area on the inside of the rim. I've also been doing tire work for 20 years. Everything from mowers, cars, trucks, dump trucks, semi's, buses, split rims (fucking never again) tow trucks, all sizes, big, little, in between. LOL!!! My highest weighted balance weight on my General tires was 120oz's. A lot, yes, but, no vibration!!!! In fact, I drove it down the interstate today, 70/75mph. Nice, smooth ride.

Just out of curiosity, are the rims center bore the same size as the trucks hub center? I believe on the gen 2/3 its 110mm.

Yes, I verified that they are hub centric wheels.

We have adapters for our balance. We use the large cone on the inside of the wheel to simulate the trucks hub. Then we have a plate with lug nut adapters that chuck up on the outside and slide inside the lug nut hole. Centers everything up as if it's on the truck. Works great!! Balancing big tires like on my truck or my Nissan (32 inch extremely aggressive mud terrains) is a breeze.

I have a quite a few places that have Hunter gear. A Les Schwab has three options. The Elite, the Touch and the Straight track. What the hell is the difference and should I look for anyone in particular?

I also am right next to a Chevy dealer with Hunter equipment. I wonder if that would be a better option?

We have a basic Hofmann balancer at our dealer. It's simple. I'll take a pic tomorrow of the adapter plate I'm talking about. Makes it nice!! Cone on the inside, lug fingers in the plate on the outside, chuck it up and go.

We got the finger/lug adapter because everyone was having issues balancing big rim/tire combos. Worked great. Sometimes, you can't just the center of the wheel to balance. Those lug plates simulate actually being bolted up to the hub.

Friend of mine had an OBS F250 with 39.5 Swampers. The only way he could balance them was balance beads. Counteract is a reputable dealer for the beads.

BTBAKER. So did you ever get it fixed and what was the fix? I have a 2018 tundra trd I put fuel vapor wheels 20x9 on with Toyo open country AT2 tires and have a shaking problem as well. Went through all the nonsense as far as balancing and rotaing to resolve the issue and nothing. I looked into seeing if there were hub centric adapters but obviously these are hub centric wheels so they cant be and dont need to be used. My wheel literally shakes intermitantly, sometimes it is dead no vibration and sometimes the wheel shakes like crazy I've never seen it before. The tires are dead nuts on the balancing machine no tread wobble what so ever and they balance out just fine. My truck is brand new about 3k miles on it and this is driving me crazy at this point. So Im hoping you found a resolution because I got nothing right now, I may just have to deal with it. Forunatelly my vibration will go away for most of the time. Its definately not a flat spotting issue because it will happen on a long trip after stopping for gas which isnt enough time to flat spot. Im just at a loss for words at this point.

I’m going in on Wednesday. I have found no solution to this. I’ll see what they come up with at the dealership and I’ll report back. Sucks you’re having issues to. FYI, I had vibration with the stock setup as well. It’s definitely NOT the wheels/tires..

Hey I have the same issues as you. Ridge Grapplers w/ Icon six speed wheels. Suspension is Icon stage 3 w/ delta joint UCA. 10,000 miles, 5 times balanced and two alignments. Wobble 55mph up 65-68, then at 70 goes away. Heading to Americas Tire tomorrow for a Road Force balance. We will see what happens. Ready to change tires and rims!

I just came across this thread and mine has been doing this as well. I put Vision Warriors on with Ridge Grapplers back in February, and have started noticing vibration and steering wheel shake at the same speeds. Mine is from about 50-60, but it is completely random. It might do it for quite a while, or it might not do it at all, so I'm at a loss. I have about 7k miles on my setup, so I have already had Discount Tire rotate them, and they rebalanced at the time. I didn't mention the vibration, but it seemed to be better after they rebalanced. That has been a few months back though. I don't remember having this with my stock setup, which I still have. I could swap them out when I get a chance, the only bad part is, is that they don't do it all the time.

I had the issue of balancing multiple times only to end up replacing my one Ridge Grappler which seems to have fixed it (that was about 15,000 miles ago). I had heard from a couple tire places they had been seeing that fairly frequently with the Ridge Grapplers. It's a shame because they are a nice riding tire. But what a pain to rotate and balance trying to find the issue. Got brand new XD 778 rims (which I was hoping wasn't the issue) which the one shop scratched with less that 100 miles. Not to mention the kid jumped in my truck covered in dirt and grease with no plastic on my seat. But that's a story for another time......

Nitto replaced it under some kind of satisfaction warranty. It they have next to no wear (can't remember the number) they will replace up to two of them (I think) at no cost. Went to a Nitto tire dealer and had to call Nitto so they could authorize the tire shop to replace it. The tire shop guy wasn't happy and wanted to know why I thought they should have to cover this. I said you are a Nitto dealer and this is a warranty item. I said it's like taking a Toyota to any Toyota dealer to have warranty work done. But that also is a story for another time.....

I've always heard how Nitto's balance out so well and so smooth, but seems to be quite a few balancing issues related to the ridge grapplers around the internet. I will say that other than the intermittent vibration, these things are very smooth and nice. Still though, I paid $1700 for a new setup and there does not need to be any shaking. My old AXT's with 45k miles on them did not do this.

I don’t think it’s wheels/tires. It was doing it slightly with my stock set up. Discount Tire has tried 3 sets of wheel and 4 different types of tire including the Ridge Grappler. Nothing has got rid of it.
Mine is at the dealer right now. I’m assuming they will just blame aftermarket parts.
This vibration needs to be gone. It will drive me nuts. Possibly to the point I trade for a 19 PRO and never touch a thing on it.

I’m taking this guys advice. The dealer could not duplicate the problem or find anything. I really wasn’t expecting different.

Order the Coachbuilder steering kit after talking to David Ekstrom. He seemed confident it will solve the issue. I will report back when it’s done.
Since I’m in there I’m also going to swap out all the rotors and pads!

Update on my issue. Yesterday replace all brakes and rotors. Installed the Coachbuilder steering kit and had it aligned with perfect numbers.
I’m sad to report that the problem still exists. This wobble is testing my sanity.
I’m going to have both front tires/wheels put to the back and see what happens.
On a positive note David at @Coachbuilder1 is a great guy and is great to work with. Highly recommend working with him. I’ll report any updates.

I did. I probably should have spent more time cleaning it though. The truck only has 17,000 on it so the rust wasn’t terrible but It was definitely there.

Right on! I’m going to Discount for a rotation on Monday. I’ll be in touch if the problem still exists. I’ll buy you some lunch or compensate you however you like!

It’s literally the twilight zone. I have been through multiple sets of tires and wheels, multiple road force balances, new brake rotors and pads and unfortunately a set of Coachbuilder tie rods that were 400 bucks and nothing got rid of it. NOTHING!
I had Discount Tire telling me they can’t do any more that my tires and wheels were perfect. So, after the tie rod and brakes that set me back a grand it was time to rotate and balance and the vibration is GONE! I haven’t enjoyed driving my truck in a long time until now.
So, it was the tires and wheels. They said and showed me they balanced perfect! I even went to two other shops who said the same thing. So, riddle me that one?
I’m now going to move one rear to the front and see if I can isolate which tire/wheel it is.

Good luck! I was seriously thinking about trading my 2017 paid off Tundra in. That’s how frustrating it was.
