So hopefully this am I’m gonna head over to the shop doing my lift and gears and order everything. My question is about the gears (another one). When they do gears they are going to change out the gear oil. Got it. So they are going to be using nitro gears and I’d assume nitro synthetic plus 80w - 140 weight gear oil. Does the transfer cas also need this same oil?

Maybe a rundown on the driveline, not that mechanically inclinded, I’m going to be asking them also just figured maybe I can have some info from one of you guys who may know.

Are you putting in an Auburn LSD with the gears?
If so, do not use Synthetic gear oil.
Read the Auburn LSD FAQs on their website.
You will need a friction additive

you aren't changing anything in the transfer case, so the oil doesn't change. There is no need to open the t-case to regear your rear diff.

Sweet thanks the guy at the shop looked at me like I had two head when I asked about it lol.

No lsd. No real need for it to justify the extra cost, ya it’d be nice but I’m already over budget and I still have labor to pay.

Side question may make a thread about it but does anyone know of the video that shows you how to remold the plastic by the front bumper so that you don’t rub? I was explaining to the shop about it and she asked for the link to the video and I haven’t been able to find it since I saw it. I think it was made by sdhq or icon when the six speed was released

And the oil the shop uses he said was 85 91 140, which I assumed means the weight is between 85-91w 140

uhhh what? 85-91 lube weight is not a thing.

If it's any consolation, I had Nitro Gear differential gearing in my Gen1 Tundra and used Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-90 for close to a decade without issue.

Also, 140 is a very thick lube weight. Especially for upstate NY.

75w-90 is what I use with my 4.88s and Auburn

Ya idk he said he’s been using it for 30 years and that it’s good stuff. This shop does a lot of Jeep’s and have been around a while so let’s hope he knows what the fuck he’s doing lol I’m fairly confident. He did say he hasn’t done many tundra gears. I figured that sdidnt really matter they’re prolly all the same minus size and specs right.
