A good quality holster is a must.
Practice holstering/ unholstering with it UNLOADED until you are proficient in the motions.

I'm a leather kinda guy, but Kydex material holsters are very sturdy and hold their shape which is important when reholstering your firearm.
Also decide if you want to go OWB(more comfortable) or IWB(more stealthy).

    And always remember :
"Keep your boogerhook off the bangswitch until you are absolutely ready to fire"

handguns are like golf clubs. IME 95% of people that own them can't use them worth a crap but you'd never know based on the way they talk about them and obsess over them. skip the junk and become one of the 5% who can actually use one.

Just shoot it. My gen 4 G17 has only stovepiped twice from letting someone else shoot it with limp wrist. Other than that it runs flawless with 1k plus rounds of blazer brass. Keep Hornady critical defense mag in at home.

Stovepipe? Sorry trying to follow. Is this a feeding jam and the slide gets stuck? Or a spent casing jam?

As others have said, train. Shoot the hell outa that thing! Spend your money on ammo, Winchester white box is great target ammo. I would avoid aluminum casing ammo. My personal preference for defensive ammo is Federal HST 147 grain. I do think night sights are a good first mod. If you're going to train and get used to the gun, you might as well do it with the sights you want. Changing sights can potentially change your POI which is a good reason to swap them out sooner than later. I have Truglow TFO's. I put them on right away and am very happy with them.

I have thousands, yes thousands, of rounds through a Glock 22 and 27'and haven't had an issue. Practice and use good ammo.

Or underpowered ammo...my wifes 42 had FTE and / or FTC almost every time using Winchester training ammo. Every other kind of ammo has been perfect thru it. I dont buy winchester anymore.

I agree. Forgot to mention that. I’ve run lower grade ammo in other guns with varying results. Winchester sucks even through a single shot .22

I've personally never had any problems with Winchester ammo. Between 9mm and .40 after a couple thousand rounds I've never had an FTF or FTE with white box, Nato, PDX1's or Rangers. Never a problem with Winchester. 22 ammo either. I would avoid any ammo marketed as training, low recoil or low noise as it just doesn't have the energy to cycle the gun properly. I have had problems with Blazer and Aguila.

I avoid aluminum casings. I have shot tons of the Winchester white box, federal, Remington ammo

WWB is easiest to find. The last thousand rounds I ordered was about $200 for 124gr federal. Have had no problems with it.

    All stock-ish. Powdercoated blue suspension.
I love my G19! First mod I did was slapping a Talon Grip on there, it helped a whole lot and I love the feeling of it. Still haven't gotten around to get any sights yet myself. I use to plink with winchester white box also, but lately I've been plinking with LAX ammo reloads, no hiccups so far.

OP look for grips, something like talon grips would be the first cheap mod you might want to get before all the cool internal and appearance accessories.

Like others have said, get some good training, shoot as frequently as you can afford, dry fire (with ammo in a different room) daily... don’t forget a good belt. Most of the holster manufacturers make them. Good ones cost a few $$ but they don’t sag and last a long time. I’ve had good luck with Galco’s leather 1 1/2” leather belt and Cross Breed’s 1 1/2” leather belt. Happy shooting!

Well just got these. Tried to put them on but the tool I have is too large to fit on the underside of the slide to turn the screw. Going to have to pick up one that has a thinner sidewall.

It’s a specific sized tool for removing and installing the sights on a glock. 4-7.00. Worth every penny instead of destroying a socket.
