Just curious, as I read all of the threads here that provide some great information but am wondering why there is not a lot of discussion regarding installing the TRD Pro suspension as it seems quite a few people here level their Tundras. Just wondering is it because of the price? Is the suspension not that good? Thank You all in advance for any information as it seems not too many people use the TRD Pro suspension.....

I just installed pro suspension on my truck. To buy it brand new it is very expensive and it would probably be better to use a different brand as these are not rebuildable. And for the price you would pay brand new you can get something even more extreme and awesome. I picked mine up used and they will be perfect for my use. Above are the instructions from Toyota that a another member gave me the link to.

A lot of people pick up takeoff pro shocks. With Pro shocks ride height is very limited. But generally, for the price, there are King, Fox and ADS that are generally presumed superior to the Pro shocks for about the same cost and greater versatility.
Nothing wrong with Pro suspension though. It's far better than the standard OEM stuff.

Aren't the TRD Pro shocks based on existing Bilsteins units, and not a custom one-off piece? I'm fairly certain all Bilsteins are rebuildable. I've had the OEM shocks on my old Evo rebuild by them before.

I’m fairly certain they are tuned specific for the tundra. I love the ride! It’s a plush bitch when you go quick over the big bumps but it’s firm around corners.

just like everything oem is more expensive.
brand new for brand new you can pick up a aftermarket system (fox, king, icon, ome, ect...) that has more versatility and options for cheaper.
i love my PRO set up but when its time for new shocks ill probably spring for an aftermarket system simply because i dont want to pay oem retail. the PRO ride is very good and does what i need out a suspension. are some others better at off-roading, yes.
if you can find a slightly used take off set for cheap, id hop on it.

I love my set. Only reason I installed them was i got them as takeoffs (<100 miles) for $500. If i had to paid retail for them i would have gone with a Fox setup. I personally don't care to "lift" my trucks and all i wanted was to level the truck out.

Got lucky. I have a friend that works at toyota. A guy bought a pro and wanted a lift installed(no idea why buy a pro and do that) so he grabed the takeoffs for me.

    No shit.
Pro is a very good oem suspension that is good enough for the majority. Ofcourse if you do some serious off roading then a true race suspension may be better.
Comes down to being honest with yourself about what you need and want out of your truck

Do you have a bro lean with the Pro set up while towing or loaded down? I haven’t seen any one mention that.

Hell yeah they do! It’s level and the springs in the back haven’t changed so it will naturally bro out.

Shocks have zero to do with the bro lean. And to answer you question I personally do not sag. I run a CB +2 shackle and timbrens to help with the weight

You and I talked about that correct? You switch between the superbump for daily use and then Timbrens when towing? Do you have a picture of you how your truck sits? I’ve got the pro suspension installed now and it almost has a negative rake naturally or exactly level. I’m wondering if my front will settle a little more. I’m trying to decide between +2 and +3 CB shackles or toytec

    Yes we did.
I'll get you a pic tomorrow of both loaded and unloaded. I'm hooking up the trailer tomorrow so it will be a direct comparison. I also run one CB shim up front.
I have read the tundra rear springs sometimes start to say in the rear so maybe yours have lost a little and your fronts are fresh?

On my truck has about 23,000 miles on it and the front springs I acquired used with about 30,000 on em.
So you have one shim so you’re probably at about 2 1/2 inches lift in the front.

.5" up front and 1.25" in the rear over stock PRO set up. And last time I took measurements I was right at a .75" difference front to rear

So it turns out I do have some bro lean still, 1/2" difference front to back. loaded it sits at 40" in the rear and 40 1/2" up front. but i looked underneath and the timbren isnt engaged when sitting still. so that means its still just using the springs. im probably going to order another 1/2" spacer for the timbrens so it will sit level when towing and a slight rake when not
this is with 6k (trailer, cars and supplies)

Looks real good though! So with that tongue weight and the timbren if you didn’t have the front shims you’d be just about perfectly level.

So how many miles should one get on a set of Bilsteins on a TRD Pro before having to replace or rebuild?

Nice Terminator! I just bought a 14 cm and can't wait to tow my 03 Sonic blue somewhere.

As I'm starting to build my TRD Pro for Overland use, I'm looking to upgrade the suspension to accommodate the additional load on the front of the vehicle. I'm planning a bumper, winch, lights, compressor, dual battery, etc. So about 250 additional on the front. Unless someone offers a HD spring that I can swap onto the OEM front, I'll be unfortunately looking at a total overhaul. Possibly Icon or King. Anyone know what a Pro suspension is worth? I already have the Coachbuilders shims installed.

Wondering if I can revive this conversation. I've got an opportunity to pick up an OEM Toyota Tundra TRD PRO suspension system for about 1800 - Will this clear 35X12.5? Or should I just stick with my first choice of Icon 3" lift?
