So I'm picking up a new bumper and will be running 4 total rigid pods and 1 rigid 20" LED light bar. I wanted to hook the 4 pods to the fog light switch that's on there factory. I know I can just connect 2 of the pods directly to the fog wiring with no issue, but 4 would be too much draw to do this (30W per pod is what they're listed on Rigid's site). So the question, how do I pull it off? I think the pods each come with a switch and relay so I'm sure I could leverage those. Thanks lighting gurus!

You can use a relay. The + from the stalk goes to the relay as a "trigger" larger power from relay to the + of fog. You'll need another fused power from the battery to the relay and a ground out of the relay.

You think a single relay could support 4 pods? Also, any idea where is the easiest way to tap into the fog switch without tearing the whole column apart?

Well, for reference, I've got a 240w light bar on a single relay. You might check the fuse box under the dash? I'm no electrical guru and it'd take me a bit of fussing to make work. Maybe @RowdyRon has an idea, he's much better at this than I.

Yeah, Looks like there's no problem for you using a single relay.

If you wanted to be extra cautious you could use each side as a trigger. But you won' need to, 4 lights @30w ea is no problem for a light bar harness that us provided. I have ran more than that amount of watts with the fog connection

You can order some h11 connectors and solder them to the wire harness for plug n play.

Do you mean and bypass the relay all together and plug directly into the fog harness from the pods?

I think he's talking about creating your own PnP harness.

I was saying plug the harness into the stock harness. But I have used just a splitter and bypassed the relay harness. But I feel you may be a little more thorough than me, lol

Thank you guys for your help! I'm going to give it a go and see what happens. I should be good on the amperage to a single relay (2.14 amps per pod and 15.29 amps from the 20" bar). I'll be sub 30 amps and getting a 40 amp relay should work great!

    Holy thread revival...

I am looking to do the same but for 4 halogen fog lights. Is the relay still necessary? I would assume yes. I am not highly knowledgeable in the "flow of electricity" but I'm hella good at following instructions and cutting/splitting/rigging things to work properly. I want to err on the side of caution and do the relay, just wandering if it's not absolutely needed and I can just make some pigtails off the factory fog light wires. If I do need relay, should I do two? Using your math, 14amps draw. Will follow all other directions (ground, fuse, etc)

42W per light. Dorman 923-850 halogen fogs

    TIA
