    Hello Everybody,

I’m looking for some help. I have a 2016 Tundra Crewmax that I bought used and it came with a single key. I bought another G key on Amazon and I’m pretty sure techstream would have to be used to program the chip and then I just get the key cut. I found a video on how to do that. I bought cheaper key fobs that are supposed to work for the model I own, however, it comes with the directions of opening doors and putting the key into the ignition and that’s not working. Can I also program the key fobs wth techstream or is there something I’m missing? Any help would be appreciated.

techstream has 2 ways to program a new fob. just follow the onscreen instructions. just remember that you can only add about total of 5 keys to the truck before you have to start deleting old keys. from what I remember you have to have the full techstream to delete keys as the ebay/Amazon techstreams don't have that ability I think (I never did see that option in mine).

but then again I am running a pretty old techstream and really don't delve pasts the easy stuff (seat belt chime), and since the new vehicles you can pretty much change most of the user settings via the entune screen.

2016 takes the Techstream to set it up and there are 3 steps: 1) cut key to match the primary key that you have; 2) activate key immobilizer (chip inside the key); 3) key fob to unlock/lock doors. I had a locksmith do mine...he had a special universal device that followed the same steps as Techstream after he cut the key for me.

You need a copy of Techstream and a mini VCI cable.
To program the chip in the key, you choose Immobilizer from the techstream menu. Then on the left hand menu under 'utility' you can program the chip.

For the keyless remote programming choose Main Body ECU. Again select 'utility' on the left and add a remote.

Just follow the on screen instructions for both programming sequences.

You can search more on this topic about switchblade key fob...or programming key and fob

After reading a boat load of forum posts mostly about 2nd gen tundras I finally figured out and found a legit version for all us 3rd Gen owners... enjoy

Here's some links to a good techstream and cable from ebay and a nice qaulity Flip key for our third Gen (G key) Tundras...

I bought my techstream from the seller below on Ebay. It's a legit clean version that runs on Windows 10.
So far I turned off driver side nanny chime, programmed my own immobilizer key and added a new door lock remote with built in flip key.
I messed up the first software install (my fault) and had to start over, FOLLOW HIS DIRECTIONS EXACTLY and it works great.

Unfortunately there are none available from this seller right now. He is from NJ and only pops up on Ebay when he makes a fresh batch. I had to wait two weeks to get mine but it was worth it.
Here is the screen shot from the one I bought. I just emailed him and asked to let me know when they will be available again. I'll update post when he responds...

Best video I found for programming 3rd Gen door lock remote using techstream:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SivdN83i4E

There are plenty of vids for programming key immobilizer any one will do. 3rd gen door lock using techstream not so much, so use above video, it's very good.

Here is the key I bought, just got it all programmed and finished last night, works great and has a long range too. Bought it here:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/EURO-STYLE-FLIP-KEY-REMOTE-FOR-TOYOTA-GQ43VT2OT-CHIP-G-KEYLESS-ENTRY-FOB-CLICKER/361652068733?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I plan on programming TPMS next when I buy new tires and wheels... I let you all know how that goes later

I have one key and no fobs for my 2016 sr5. I prefer to lock my key in the center console and only carry the fob (hate big key rings) Is there a recommended fob only? Does the “G” key matter for the fob?
