I've never purchased a new (like not even on the lot yet new) car or truck before. But right now I'm waiting on my 2018 Tundra that was supposed to be delivered to the dealership middle of last week.

Basically the truck is at a rail yard about 25 miles from the dealership and has been sitting there for several days... And the dealership can't/won't tell me anything other than it's at the rail yard waiting to be delivered... Should be any day now... Blah blah blah.

Anyone have any experience with this? Is it just one of those things where it'll show up when it shows up?

Yeah I watch a bunch of guys load and unload railcars they are nuts, flying all over the place. They are not affiliated with the railroad at all. I've also seen loaded railcars involved in derailments and nothing wrong with the vehicles in them but have to be totaled because of liability.
So to tell you what I think it is not the railroad more than likely it's the contractor's that load and unload. I've seen them set for weeks. Just what I've seen in the past.

Depends if a lone wolf (that all the neighbors knew about) blows up the tracks.

I bought a F150 that was sitting st tail head and dealer had it in about a week. Railroads make money turning those rail cars quickly so they are not going to let it just sit there long. Now getting a truck might be the hold up right now. Truckers are pretty busy. We are getting slammed with requests for rate hikes.

Actually the do use grease on the rails. LOL
I just use more sand in those areas for traction to keep from slipping.

Is it true if you put a penny on the track it’ll shoot out like a bullet when the train rolls over it?

    UPDATE (if anyone is interested):

Apparently Toyota USA has stopped deliveries (to dealerships at least) on both Tundras and Sequoias until an inspection of some sort can be done on them. I’m not sure if it’s a regional thing (I’m in Colorado) or what, but my truck has been at the rail yard since December 5th (it was supposed to be delivered December 6th).

According to the regional director here, Toyota’s official inspectors will be there on Monday to do the inspections and the trucks will be released within a day or two after that. They didn’t say what specifically the inspection was for.

Yeah I didn't think it had anything to do with the railroad carrier. Hope all is well and your truck arrives soon in your driveway.
