With help from Sean, Jace is going to help me to get my OME goodies installed at Stevenson's West in the AM. I basically kicked ass at work this week so I can take off tomorrow to get everything installed. ( did I mention I am feeling sick and too sick to come in??) heh heh. The new "retired" Air Force guy with the 2007 DC SR-5, w/rare 8 ft bed, "Allen" is learning quickly. He has been away from calibration for quite some time, but his aptitude never left. We will help him get up to snuff ASAP. He is a part time bee keeper too! Another chapter soon enough. I may be a Jar Head, for you Air Force guys, I was trained by the AF at Lowry AFB in 1979 here in Aurora, CO. You know what I am talking about, you old fart AF guys here. Right? USMC/AF Air Wing has one goal>:infantry::bananadead::oldglory:

Jace found two messed up knuckle bolts. Messed up enough that he had to order replacements. Knuckle appears to be still usable with a little TLC. Glad I decided to upgrade to the OME's. Whoever originally installed the lift shouldn't be working on vehicles period. When it comes to lifts, have it done by someone who actually knows what their doing. Jace and crew at Stevenson's West are a good group. Will be going there from now on even though it's on the other side of town. Should get truck up and running tomorrow AM.:popcorn:

First off, Kudos to Jace, @LOTSOFTOYS . He saved my knuckles. IE: approx $1900 for a pair.. He re-tapped the knuckles so the new bolts would actually have something to grab onto. Spent close to 2 hours dressing everything up. (with tap and die on his dime ) Once Jace got that done , I watched him do the alignment. Dead nuts. Dead nuts with stock UCA limitations. Will definitely get SPC UCAs with tax refund (plus another Jace professional re-alignment). My service advisor is Mark Furlong. The best. I'm sure the other advisors are cool too. The main thing that I got from my experience at Stevenson's Toyota West, is that they know four wheeling. If you don't hard core four wheel much by all means use the spacer "lift" ,otherwise go with full length coil overs. The OME lift is mid priced. Can't rebuild, but best bang for the buck. IMO. I will test my new set up Sunday, up Pickle Gulch. Can be a piece of cake or all fracked up going up from year to year, although rarely impassable.

CAM00466.jpg Authentic ARB.com.au OME hat. Hard to find by the way.
    CAM00464.jpg Thick shock shafts
CAM00463.jpg About 3/4" inch lower than rear. About just right.

CAM00462.jpg I gained more clearance from possibly coming into contact with coil. A possible issue with spacer lift if you 4 wheel a lot. Aftermarket UCAs' eventually
CAM00455.jpg Stevinson paid $80,000 to fully restore from pretty much all new OEM parts.
    CAM00456.jpg Like new
Edit: not like new, is new.

When Corey Sain gets back, maybe you can be there when he does the cab mount fix. Then you can be able to help me decide what tires/$$$ to spend............:bananadance::bananadance::bananadance:

I still have enough tread left to last another 20K +/2yrs+ so not in a real big hurry for new tires yet. Still need a locker/limited slip. I'm leaning now towards the ARB air locker w/compressor set up.

DON'T GET MTR'S. for a truck that spends a lot of time on pavement, you will be pissed at the tread life

My DuraTrac's didn't have great tread life either but were a great tire. Tread life is not too big of a concern when I consider what tires to get. I put less than 100 miles, usually less on my truck during the week. My work is only 3.5 miles away. Most weekends I'm up in the mountains usually on gravel, dirt or old beat up mining roads and the usual snow conditions we have here. Actually a large chunk of my trucks' mileage is off the pavement. Tread life and MPG's are just not a concern with me. Right now if I had to buy another set of tires today it would be the DuraTracs. The best tires I've ever owned and I've bought a lot of good A/T, M/T tires over the last 43 years. The way my DuraTracs held up literally in all types of conditions on my way up to AK and during my 10 month stay there is convincing enough for me. As you saw I still have over 1/2 tread left any ways. So not in a hurry for new shoes.

I think I may have mentioned before that BP's fleet of Ford trucks (well over a 100) up in Prudhoe Bay all had DuraTrac's. Conditions from -70 degrees in winter to over +70 in summer. Mud. ice, snow, dirt, pavement, tundra, muskegs, etc. Up there you want the best all all around tire for those conditions. No doubt there are other tires that may suffice. I've got plenty of time to decide anyways.

Good news. I posted my old TRD shocks/coilovers with spacers/diff drop kit about 4 hours ago on Craig's for $150. (a great deal). Just sold them. Buyer is going to pick everything up tomorrow at 7AM. Going on his 08. I'll tell him to sign on T.com. I got a good deal from Sean for the setup minus spacers/diff drop stuff. Figured I'd pass the good deal forward

Met Lars early this morning. He was very pleased with everything. 08 DC Maroon(?). Very nice truck. Owns a couple of other Toyota Vehicles.(Currently a member of Rising Sun 4X4 site). He is aware of our forum and will sign up. "Isn't that the forum with the guy that owns a Black Rock Warrior?" (Gee, I wonder who he is talking about?)

Here's a better shot of the new lift. Rides way better. Totally different stance. Not going to go up to the mountains to test it out until this Friday:

Just ordered this setup. Still have my Uniden 520pro that was in my 09 Taco but wanted Single Side Band capability and weather alerts. SSB is 12 watts out of the box. Can be tweaked to 18 watts or so. Comes in handy when there are no cell towers way up north and hunting season. Trying to decide where to mount the radio. In center console, under dash? I am considering ordering the optional wireless mic:[IMG]

I was leaning the center console direction too. Will probably need to get an external speaker and Amazon has the Uniden wireless mic on sale for $50: upload_2015-10-3_6-58-20.jpg

you could do a fm modulator if you have the stock radio. If you have a aftermarket with a aux plug in to the cb.. just a thought for ya man.

I had plans last year to do a cb to mine but I didnt like the antennas out there. I went back to the drawing board and shelf the idea for now.

My sons girlfriend works at the Denny's at Flying J's/Pilot truck stop here in Aurora off I-70. After talking with a few truckers it became clear that Firestik antennas were their antenna of choice. Only one way to find out. So I went with the Firestik.
