I did some searching, but didn’t have any luck.

I’ve been getting an intermittent squeal from my A/C compressor for a while. I grabbed an AC clutch off of a 100 series land cruiser V8 at the junk yard, but of course it’s a little bit different than the one on the Tundra.

My question is has anyone had luck just replacing the pulley bearing, and if so, can anyone confirm the part number? The bearing on the hundred series pulley is a Nachi 30BGS10DST, which seems to be a fairly universal AC compressor bearing. And other than being staked into the pulley, looks like it would be easy enough to replace on the 100.

The main reason I’m asking is because of course, the one on my truck doesn’t wanna come off easily… So I’m hoping to figure this out and get a replacement part in hand before I go any further. Would much rather pay 30 bucks for a pulley then 200 and something for a clutch. Thanks for any help!

That’s a good resource, but Toyota doesn’t list the bearing separately. The pulley and bearing assembly is a single part. I’m just hoping somebody can confirm whether or not that bearing can be replaced and what the part number is.

I was able to get the compressor pulley taken apart today and the bearing is indeed replaceable*

    * The bearing is staked in place and you need to use a Dremel or something similar and grind out the staked positions and then press the bearing out for replacement and retake the new bearing into place.

A couple things I learned along the way that are helpful: In the outer clutch piece after you take the 6 mm bolt out of the middle, the clutch piece is threaded for an 8 mm bolt so you can use that to help press it off if it’s stuck. Behind the outer clutch piece are spacers that set how much clearance there is between the clutch and the pulley, make sure you don’t lose them and that they go back in place. There’s a wavy snap ring holding the pulley and bearing onto the compressor. I didn’t have any luck with snapping pliers because of where it is and access, but a 90° pick tool did the job for taking it off and putting it on. There’s not that much to it. The bearing is indeed the same as the 100 series as well as many other Toyota compressors. Nachi 30BGS10DST.
