yes- OEM 20” wheels. I always check and re- torque my lug nuts after anyone else touches the truck if I didn’t rotate them myself. They are in excellent condition and have not been curbed or beat up at all.

 

Try the clip weights on the back of the wheel and QC’ing their machine. Also the right cone is used for the wheel, if that is off at all it won’t be accurate. Let us know how it goes! I am sorry to hear this, mine have been fantastic. Maybe even try a different tech or a lead or different store? Sometimes it’s not the machine but the user.

 

I think I’ll just have them order me the new KO3s again and have this shop do the balance and install- I went to a different location for the current set and they started off out of balance before my regular guys tried to correct everything. I just really loved the KO2s before- and everyone here is loving the KO3s as much

With y’all’s guidance- I have replaced my HVAC blower motor, stereo head unit, did the LED headlight / taillights upgrade, swapped out the grill, and got suggestions on replacing my worn out tonneau cover and nerf bars.

Turns out- you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!!

 

I added a set on my 2024 4Runner last year, 285/70r17 C rating, and they haven't been trouble free to be honest. I had a very tough time getting them balanced; the 5th gen 4Runner does have reported issues with tire balancing, but I still had to warranty 1 tire because it simply would not road force balance. I haven't experienced any balance issues after replacing that tire.

Another issue is mine develops a flat spot after sitting parked for only overnight. The problem is at its worst during winter, but the tires will eventually round out after about a mile or 2 and the bump bump bump bump from the flat spot will work itself out. I have KO2s on my 2001 Tundra and they will also develop these flat spots, but only after sitting for extended periods of time, like 1 week, compared to 1 day with the KO3s.

I live in Boise, Idaho, which is very arid, so we don't get a lot of rain or snow, so I don't have much experience with the tires on wet roads.

Off-road; I spend most of my off-roading time in the Owyhee region of SE Oregon, SW Idaho, and I haven't experienced anything negative there. They've been just as good off-road, as the KO2s.

Would I buy them again? It's still too soon to say; time will tell.

 

do these flat spots eventually go away? My truck will sit on a concrete driveway for two or three days at a time in the Florida sun- wonder if that’s the issue… I drove this damn thing about 15 miles around town yesterday and still noticed it; maybe I should put some miles on it over the weekend and see? Anyone have an opinion on this?

 

That is a c load rating and you have an e load rating which means the sidewall is stiffer on your tires. Therefore, even though your truck is heavier, no I don't think you have an ovality issue.

 

FWIW, I put the E rated on my 5th gen 4R and it's riding smooth like the oem P Bridgstone tires. Probably handles better though.

 

I've never used E rated tires and I read that they won't flatten out when aired down. Have you experienced that?

 

I've ran exclusively e-rated tires and I'm usually able to get decent flotation and traction, I've gone as low as 15psi. I do a lot of desert/dune driving that requires the flotation and I definitely notice a difference versus when aired up to 40 PSI.

 

Well, there's more to it than just load range. The sidewall height varies by size and if you have minimal sidewall height, you will have minimal flattening out. Although not popular, I like small wheels and tall sidewalls on my vehicles. So, no I don't have or have I ever had problems with airing down for better traction or to avoid punctures. That said, if I had less load rating, I could gain more flattening with less pressure release and a shorter time to pressure up again. However, I don't usually air down around here much as the biggest problem is deep nasty mud and airing down reduces ground clearance. So, I use traction blocks that strap around the wheels when I have any doubts. Pretty much turns tires into tracks since they dig in about 2". The key is to strap up before entering the mud and getting stuck in the muck.

 

Update- went with Falken Wildpeak A/T4w. They are smoooooth.
I called an independent small tire shop and chatted up a guy about the KO3 and he was saying something about the way they lay the nylon layers in a diagonal pattern different than how they did for the KO2 is causing balancing issues and hard spots in some production runs. He’s had 50/50 luck with them and is suggesting KO2 if they have them in your size. Makes me sad, I loved my KO2s just couldn’t get them in my size. But loving these Wildpeaks! Time will tell.

 

Loving the ko3s, liked the ko2s. Getting ko3 on the crosstrek soon too.

 

I had a set of Falkens and couldn’t get them to balance, but they were the LTs. They are good looking tire. Glad you found something you enjoy! Post a pic
