They were from Amazon but from Densos direct page.

We just checked and found they weren't actually gapped at all AND Cylinder 7 was barely tightened at all. Gapped them all and obviously tightened 7 properly. Took her for a drive. Right back to limp mode. Just moved the coil and plug from 7 to 5 and still got a failure on 7.

I'd clear any codes then disconnect the battery for a few min. If plugs weren't event gapped etc I'd be going through it all checking connections as well.

We did clear codes between all test runs but didn't disconnect the battery. I left for now but just texted him to disconnect the battery for 15 mins and take her for a spin again.

Call me a prude but I still don’t trust Amazon, even direct pages.

Hopefully @reywcms suggestions fix it; I was going to suggest doing the same thing.

When you say ‘not gapped at all’ do you mean that the electrode and ground strap were touching? Or simply incorrect? If that one plug is giving issues, I’d look at a bad plug from being dropped or mishandled. I’ve cracked porcelain on a plug that only misfired when hot, but ran great when cold. Plugs are relatively cheap. I’ve had good luck sourcing from RockAuto or local parts stores; exceedingly poor luck with “genuine parts” from Amazon, including spark plugs.

My mistake, I meant they were untouched out of the box. Not gapped to spec. Moving that plug to another cylinder didn't make the failure move so I don't suspect an issue with the plug itself.

I actually have another set of the same plugs sitting here we can swap in if it comes to that though.

Limp mode? Is the maf etc plugged in? What tune is in it? Did they have an issue loading the tune at all? Who did the install?

They did have an issue loading the tune but I figured out the issue and was able to load it successfully. It's the Whipple supplied tune. The original tune was based off a non stock tune that was on the truck but I was able to reload the stock tune and pull it and get it off to Whipple for them to redo their tune off of, which they did, and I was then able to get that loaded successfully. Andrew, at XAT, did the install.

We drive it and it pulls ok under moderate throttle and then right about 55-60 the truck starts shaking and throws check engine and the code is always misfire on cylinder 7. Maybe 'Limp Mode' isn't the correct term but we sure do limp home.

Hmm a non stock tune to base a tune from. Lots of variables here we're tracking. If it were me I'd flash this thing with a stock tune and drive it see how it acts. IT should drive fine. Then have new tune loaded etc. Then start going through all the install mechanical items. And I'd drop the plug gaps down

Maybe missed it but did you swap coil too? Check wire connections on 7. Could not be producing enough voltage under load but fine when cruising.

Yup. Moved coil and plug to see if the misfire moved with it.

After every tune i do my truck runs rich as shit. If i wot and hold down the throttle it will throw a code and start misfiring. Ive learned to get some miles in. Tune always starts to lean out and settle after 100+ miles. Figured it was the KCL and knock doing it's thing until it settles. Now is that right and should it take that long to learn up, I don't know. Just my situation after every tune. What air/fuel do you see when going into limp mode?

Here is a good read on the hp repository about learn up from SlowNstock for anyone curious also

Loaded the stock tune. Issue gone. Rey nailed it.

So, basically... Fuck the Whipple tune. Done trying to make that work. Getting the bung and gauge setup ASAP to move forward with Sniv doing the tuning. Already got him the stock tune. Just need some real logging now.

    Thank y'all for the help.
