Oil/filter change and tire rotation. Friday will be air and cabin filters, and checking clamps on the topper. Sunday I start driving east to PA.

Not so much about your post, but your sig....first, solid choice on bikes. Africa Twins, and the TransAlp are my faves. Second, I've got a 76 40 series. My Dad had a 60s era after he got back from Vietnam, and Love the few pics I have of him in front of it before I was a glimmer.

    Nice vehicles, sir.

How about that? Strange though that I put in the part number into Toyota Parts Online and there are no results, but it is there at Sparks.

You have to swap your keyless circuit (the little board w the battery in your key) and also have to cut the immobilizer out and transfer it

But I did it to both my keys and love them now

    Today:

I'm working (slowly) on making it driveable. I swapped out the ball and claw axles for ones from an FJ55 and need to finish bending brake lines and adding a master/booster. Then I'll un-pickle the engine and see if it's still good after twenty years of sleeping. A Sniper EFI system will be next if the engine is good.

The Africa Twin is the perfect bike for me and the riding I do in CO.

Truck looks spotless down to the black plastics showing no fade. Interesting it was used to tow with the 4.6L. I have an SR with the 4.6 and have towed without issue (light duty mostly but the setup has never strained on anything I've put on it). Did the previous folks add a brake controller. As of around the 2018 models, Toyota did away with the prewiring for adding the OEM brake controller from what I understand. Ticked me off learning that after the fact.

Broke the tailgate assist bracket :(

I somehow managed to break clean the ball stud where the top of the tailgate assist strut fits through. This is the factory option that hides behind the driver side tail light. While searching for a solution I stumbled upon this thread >> https://www.tundras.com/threads/tailgate-assist.7849/ which is awesome and I am thankful for the wealth of knowledge out here about these trucks.
Now I just have to figure out what spec ball studs I should order to replace the broken part with. I know there are aftermarket options I can go for where a strut attaches to the side of the tailgate but would rather prefer keeping the factory option. Wish me luck!
    Cheers.

I have no insight as to the previous owner, save for the bag setup and warped front rotors. I wish it had an oem brake controller....

The truck is super clean. I just bought it two weeks ago and it was just as you see it.
I was shocked at how new and crisp it was when I saw it in person.

You know how ad pictures on the web can conflict with reality.

It is showing 59k miles, I have put about 500 miles on it, having done almost 300 miles just driving it home to Tennessee from Hoover AL.

I thought the wheels had fake bbs logos in oem Toyota wheels, but the window sticker shows option "BBS Wheels".

It has the SR5 premium package, whatever that entails.

    Thanks for the comments!

since I don't think youll be able to thread anything back in there (very well could be wrong but looks like theres no nut welded in behind there); you could use a rivenut for the same thread pitch as the factory one, then you can just do the factory option

Did they paint the chrome bumper ends? If so, what was the cost?

No, I bought the paintable caps from Toyota. It was $550 parts/paint, OE Toyota.

I may take the chrome ends and see how much it is to powder coat black as extras

Any shop that can do chrome can also de-chrome. Paint is never going to stick to the chrome. I have the plastic ends, but saved my chrome ends for this purpose. But now I'm leaning toward a C4 or other bumper (if the wife lets me...).

I bought some color matched mirror caps myself for my Cement recently. Wanted to get some before they could no longer be found. However, still running my OEM tow mirrors until I sell the RV.

Did you go with metal, or 'resin' caps? OEM? What did all of that set you back? I've got bumpershellz on now, but that'll likely change in the future

Put my step assist on, and highlighted "Tundra", Next 2 projects on the tailgate. New Tundra owner, long time AC/DC fan. When you hear "Thunder Struck", do you substitute Tundra?

So after a couple weeks of use, I'm still happy with the armrest. I have learned that if the window is down, the rest is more prone to falling off if you close your door hard enough. It's not a deal breaker because the majority of the time if I get out of the truck, the window is gonna be closed anyway.
