Cracked open my Whipple kit last night. Looks like I'm missing a few pieces including the fuel injectors and the instructions. It did come with a new fuel pressure regulator which is different than the previous gen. And the pulley was larger than listed on the paperwork (3.75" listed, 3.875" in the box). Oddly enough, the label on the blower box itself lists an even smaller pulley at 3.625". I sent an email to Whipple last night. Curious to see what they say.

Damn. It would appear you have been “twin screwed”.

Bad jokes aside, what are they doing over there?

Wild to me how bad their QC is especially since they provide oe applications. Must be a different division for us common folk

Install PDF, maybe add it to the front page next to Whipple.

Ive been trying to get a concrete answer from them about it too as I've seen 3 different pulleys sizes mentioned/installed on the Gen6 kits. Hopefully they have someone who knows what's going on with our kits specifically since the redesign.

The inconsistency of it is what gets me. I’ll very likely pulley down to make up for elevation, but I’d at least like a starting point. I suppose I could do the math to figure out how much air each pulley size pushes at RPM and extrapolate boost from there. But without some sort of compressor map or at least efficiency curve I would just be guesstimating. I mean, it’s not a show stopper like the parts that are completely missing, but maybe I expect more..?

Just run the smallest size and you'll be fine :D I have yet to find any offering from the OEM or (other) aftermarket that pulleys down enough to make up for elevation.

Small vs stock size ratio for comparison:

    1900 with 2.0" = 82%
    2650 with 65mm = 76%
    Whipple with 3.0" vs 3.625" = 83%
    Whipple with 3.0" vs 3.875" = 77%

I would suspect the 3.0" pulley would be fine assuming the boost scales similarly to the other blowers. If you're around 5000ft or higher, I doubt you'll see over 10psi.

That jives. I was seeing a hair under 7psi with the 3.375” pulley on the 2.9 at 4500’. I figured a 3.0 would get me to around 10 or 11psi on a good day, figuring 1-1.5psi per pulley size. And who doesn’t want to turn it up to 11? If we assume the 3.0L Gen 6 is 10% more efficient/more air, I might hit 12?

Now I just need to quit bench racing and get this motor put back together and sealed up. Hoping work eases up a little this weekend but kids go back to school so we may skip town for the weekend. Might have to reschedule some folks for next week…

I have achieved uncharted territory! The 1.880" pulley is here :D

    PXL_20250821_013537081.jpg

Originally ViktorG had a custom 2.0" pulley made, so when I very originally designed my pulley I intentionally left a little room so if I one day wanted to push it further I could, and after Mikes request here we are!

My truck has a new upgrade for the first time in awhile, and that OG pulley that is now 3 years and 26000+ miles old will go on the memorabilia wall. It's pretty neat too since all the pulleys I've made are backwards compatible, so this new 1.880" that showed up yesterday and has some tweaks and newer aesthetics to it bolts right up to the very first hub I ever had made. The pulley setup is just so cool I think

We'll see if this makes any actual difference, it's a minor step down in size, and it's 90+ degrees out so doesn't seem to feel much different besides maybe hitting a bit earlier in the throttle. We'll see if I can move a few places down in the dragy boards once it cools down a bit.

    90? That's adorable!

I heard back from Whipple this morning with some interesting info:

According to them, 19-21 trucks don't get/need/use upgraded fuel injectors in their kit; instead, they supply an upgraded Fuel Pressure Regulator along with the DW300 fuel pump. Is anybody aware of a part number change for '19+ trucks on the fuel injector? @Jowett ? Interesting that they would make that decision on the last few years of truck. I seem to recall having an injector duty cycle in the 80's on the DW650's from going one pulley size down with a boost referenced stock FPR at around 6 psi of boost. I hope they aren't maxing out the injectors on the stock pulley - which appears to be 3.75". I wonder if Toyota used Flex Fuel injectors on non-flex fuel trucks from '19 on up (didn't they discontinue flex fuel around '19?); I seem to recall from some previous discussion that being the largest factory fuel injector offered by Toyota for this motor/injector configuration.

Spark plugs are also no longer standard on the Whipple either, so it looks like one should budget an additional $700 +- on the kit for injectors and plugs. Of course, I'm happy to be wrong about the '19+ injectors, I've just got a feeling that they are barely adequate.

In other good news, I got the cam tower resealed on my '13 last night, so I'm hoping to start reassembling everything. Bad new is - the timing skipped while I was working on it because I'm an idiot. Hopefully good news is, I was able to get it back to where it it's supposed to be, but still need to verify somehow. All of marks match up along with the colored chain links being in the same places as referenced in older pics of the teardown. Shoulda just left it alone and just stopped at the tensioner.. or yoinked the motor out and had it built. Oh well. Live and learn I guess.

That’s the Harrop stage 1 (untuned) fueling bandaid. They provide the same pump and regulator with no larger injectors. It’s not ideal.

    Ahh, that's right.

I guess the question becomes - is there a fitment issue with '19+ trucks and aftermarket fuel injectors? Perusing several vendor sites, DW650's are excluded from the compatibility list for later year tundras, 07-15 being the most common. DW's site itself says they are not compatible with '21's via the compatibility checker function. BUT, @TurboKits site lists them as 07-21 fitment, and I'm pretty sure the Turbo crowd is running larger injectors. I think @bflooks truck is a '19.

So it sounds like Whipple may have just cheaped out new injectors...

I can confirm the DW650s fit a 2019 with factory rails.

No issue, these companies are trying to get your sale by offering an inferior product for $500 less. It's the same fuel system on all years and I've installed the same injectors as my 08 on 2021 trucks.

I suppose the question is, what does the seller say the kit(s) include?

Also, will the motor be safe on the included tune, with the included hardware?

If it's tuned like a Harrop..maybe? I ran mine once just to see and it was fast, but had a bit of top end detonation. I didn't bother to log and started a retune as soon as I got home.

I'd be referring them to their site and asking for my injectors.

I'd also give them the option of return and refund (whether I wanted to return it or not)

    That's some serious bullshit.

Even more BS - I asked to cancel my order for a refund in June. A week later they responded with a tracking number that they "already shipped it". A week after that, it went out the door.

I'll be calling them this afternoon. Ready to punt this thing and keep my '21... stock... Ew.
