As winter approaches and you have the full swap to DEX3 you may experience a delayed shift sequence. It will subside once the atf gets to about 110-120F. You could un-pin your t-stat to warm it up quicker in winter. Dex 3 viscosity is 34.5 at 104F and 7.3 at 212F. WS is about 23 and 5.4 at those temps, so just a bit more.

I narrowed down my transmission issue to the Torque Converter. I most likely slightly toasted it when my strainer came off as each time the TC unlocks it jumps 300-500rpm before transferring power. All solenoids activate and within ohm range. Fluid wasnt burnt and did see some debri in it, most likely from TC. Shifts well 1-4 is good, 5 and 6 has been an issue with hard shift. Only doing local drives until I can do a swap out and rebuild.
Edit: 1-4 is still pretty tight. 5 will not unlock and has the slip in rpm's. So TC and possibly C2 clutch. S2 solenoid was good but who knows.

    Thanks mdl! Fittings came.

I have a 143k working when it came out but I didn't want to deal with the r&r if it failed in 2k miles tq converter if you want it

Thanks for the offer. I just have to find the time to head down to @reywcms and get his transmission that he's been graciously holding for me. I plan to swap out the whole unit and send mine out for a rebuild.

I would say something is out of sorts.^

Although I don't have a reference for a tune other than stock, my truck has been running well with the Whipple tune and appears to be adequately safe in the a/f department from what I've been monitoring.

My latest/highest boost number I've seen.

What makes you think something is out of sorts? Stock pulley etc that’s not out of normal psi stock range. Have you checked the bypass valve is also working correctly we noticed many installers etc overlook this is clear and not caught on anything

I was meaning to say compared to @nags buddy my Whipple canned tune has been good too me so far. So, something must be out of sorts with their install of the tune or file they received.

So I've done 2 drain and fills, each time removing and replacing about 4L of trans fluid. As long as I'm putting in exactly what I've taken out it's ok to not check the level each time?

I believe the tune wasn't installed properly (or at all). We'll find out soon when I get my hands back on it myself.

    I'll add:

when you do an oil change.....do you check to see how much you added?

then, why would you consider NOT checking the level on the 2nd most important piece of equipment on your truck?

FTR - it's very, very easy.

I paid a shop to D&F my '10 CrewMax transmission, 3 months later, I had no reverse. I drained & replaced 3x on the Sequoia, measuring exactly what came out & replacing it.

Logic tells me this is sufficient, but my OCD will force me to check it when I'm done draining and filling, just on the last iteration though.

That's what I do when doing multiple drains in a row. Overfill, run, shift, drain, repeat. Just level check before you drive it.

Alright @LILTRD and @nags and @Danimal86 - what size stock pulley did whipple ship with your SC? My replacement blower came with a 3.75" pulley, but I'm told 3.875" is the standard size for an off the shelf kit. I had pulleyed down my 2.9 due to higher elevation and told whipple as much when I filled out their RMA forms. So now I'm curious which size is standard..

The 3.0 comes with a larger pulley than the 2.9 did. 3.625 was stock on the 2.9.

Right, I'm just wondering which size is stock with the 3.0. (wondering if they sent me a smaller pulley knowing I was running a smaller pulley on my setup).

    @Cruisers & Co.

I never received documentation on where to ship my stock valve to for core return. Anyone care to share where to ship the core?

4 drain and fills complete and trans shifts quick and feels great. Next up install boost gauge/afr combo and traction bars, then maybe just maybe it's 76mm pulley time!

One note is to be patient. It’s a solid 6-8wks before you get the core charge back.

For some reason Toyota/Lexus Tran’s like to be overfilled a touch. I don’t know if it’s a full quart. I usually a pint. But it’s more about the pump pick up being able to stay submersed.
