I have a 2020 Tundra, 5.7L, TRD 4 x 4 with 5' bed. I connected our RV Airstream Basecamp 16 RV Trailer to the 7-pin connector so I could take the Airstream to the Tire Dealer to get new tires for the trailer. I noticed that the small green tow icon was lit on the dash and the lights, brakes, and signal lights worked on the trailer. I also pushed the Tow/Haul button, and it was on as indicated by the yellow indicator on the dash. As I was driving, I squeezed the output slider to see what Gain was set on and nothing. Nothing showed, like as if it was not connected. Trailer lights were working, but no electric brakes on the trailer. Fortunately, I did not have far to go. So the question is, is the failure in the Tundra Trailer Brake Controller, or my RV Trailer. Is there a way to check the Brake Controller on the Tundra to see if it is functioning correctly? How often does the Trailer Brake Contoller go out on the 2020 Tundras? Thanks.

First I've heard of something like this happening on a 2020, which leads my to lean more towards a trailer issue.

There was as TSB or something out on it too. But you have to go in and select what type of trailer brakes you have. I think there are like 5 options, Electric 0-4999lbs, Electric 5000+ lbs, EoH 0-4999lbs, Eoh 5000+lbs, and maybe one more.

Happened to me once ... go back into mids and reselect trailer and brake type. I don't know why settings dumped even though I never disco'd the battery.

My 2019 when I bought it used apparently never towed. I got an intermittent Trailer Disconnected warning and beep about every mile when I first pulled the camper with it. It would register the trailer then lose it. Drove me nuts. Lights all worked.
Found a TSB and had dealer download the update for the tune of $220 bucks.
The TSB listed 2018-2019 at the time.
    Never had a problem since.
Can't remember the TSB number, but it's probably on this site somewhere.

But there was definitely a message coming up on center screen every time.
