    • I ride a 390,000 mileage, 05 tundra basic Model it has no vsc and only Abs, so i got work done on my steering and brakes. And they broke an Abs sensor or something. The abs starts malfunctioning at 5 mph and engaging and making a loud moo noise. This was a month or so ago. And we kept going back and they were doing free work to fix. The abs light is not on. They thought it was the front left tire sensor so they replaced that with after market then they did other troubleshooting, then we got the oem sensor and that didnt work. They borrowed some tools to get better diagnostics. Still nothing.
    • We finally took it to our other mechanic as they were a brake and tire shop and he goes looks at it with his machine and he goes and says its not the left but the right tire sensor so we get the after market part and that does not work still reading no speed a Zero on the right tire sensor. And now I am waiting a week for the right tire abs sensor from Toyota. And the mechanic is thinking it might just be a stripped or broken wire or the ABS module itself. Running out of ideas.
    • All the other common faults of the Abs sensor are not hitting, the dirt or debris on the ring would be an intermittent issue not at every 5 mph stop
    • The sensor distance could be it but doubt it.
    • Does anybody have experience with replacing the ABS module?
    • Anybody have the same problem the Abs engaging at 5 mph red light stops or braking
    • Thanks for any help

In our "you should read this stuff first" thread, we do cover the low-speed ABS engagement issue. We have a lot of good content on it. I'm posting this here for you. I doubt it's the ABS module. It's likely the sensor, or if they replaced a bearing/seal, it's potentially the tone ring engagement, or shit built up on the tone ring. Here's that part of the thread:
    • ABS engagement: A common complaint we hear on here is about ABS engagement. Sometimes it's just the sensors are coated in crap (rear ones) because seals blew out, or aftermarket ABS sensors were used, or the ABS sensors aren't mounted squarely, their alignment is critical. If you find all of yours are OK, check this thread out for info on how to dial-in your sensors AND fix a long-running ABS-engagement-at-slow-speeds problem.
Anyone can remove the sensor from their holes and inspect the tips for debris, and look at the tone ring inside the hole, make sure the sensor o-ring is intact and good. If you're getting no signal, find the plug for the sensor, which is way up on the framerail (trace the wires back) and make sure the connector is fully plugged, unplug it, look a the pins for bent stuff, and corrosion, plug it fully back in.

    But also read that thread.
