    Hello,

I have a 2013 SR5 with the factory rear camera display in the rear-view mirror. A few years back someone broke the tab that cinches together the wiring connector near the tailgate & every couple of years I have to re-seat the connector and tape it together or even try a zip tie. It's getting twitchy again and I'd like a better solution. I've found the actual replacement part(s), but the price is ridiculous - $100 for each half of the connector.

Is there anything exotic about this connector or will a standard automotive electrical connector & some splicing work as a replacement?

I did find a couple of other threads on the subject, but the wiring is a bit different - I don't think there is a coax cable on my setup. There are some good photos and a wiring diagram though.

Link (this one has more wires than mine)

Link (this one seems more similar to mine)

    Thanks!

Hi 1lowlife - thanks for the welcome and the help. The Deutsch connector is basically what I had in mind, with the one hiccup being that I can't identify which (if any) leads are actually shielded. If the answer is "none," this looks very straightforward. If the answer is >0, that could become a headache quickly. :D I hesitate to jump the execution on this - I'd rather have a pretty solid plan.

The good news is that I have an aftermarket head unit with its own camera, so if I wreck the OEM system I'll still have the aftermarket. However I do like having both, as they each have their own field of view and utility.
