I was wondering if for some reason it’s actually measuring the actual temp of the air it’s blowing into the cabin and not the actual temp you set it at? Still weird that it’s showing that...

I tried the rear defroster and once I turned the truck off and remote started it the rear Defroster did not come back on. My last truck did the same thing with my remote start and it was all factory.

Thanks. Sounds like I’ll have to wire it to one of the aux switches anyways.

How often do they have this group buy for the 550? Basically will they have another one later in 2018?

No problem at all. As long as it helps people make a decision.

To anybody that has one of these installed.. Have you had any issues of overheating or getting hot? Read somewhere that some android head units get pretty hot and the person had to add some heat sinks to help with the heat. I know it is behind the dash and hard to know for sure but I would assume the dash would be getting warm over time.

Waiting for the lower price this evening if Jodi Miller is correct....... tick-tock. tick-tock.....

With the approaching discount kicking in this evening, I've been contemplating this unit. I'm not completely sold on this and decided to list my views on the pros and cons.

    Pro
    • It looks very cool with the large screen
    • you can download apps from the Google Play store

    Con
    • Its not factory option and any hidden gotchas are unknown
    • No built in XM. Have to rely on a Google Play app
    • You loose factory navigation that uses Satellite. Navigation would required a hot spotted phone providing WIFI.
    • You loose factory push to assist. Granted not that good, but does have basic functionality.
    • Not sure if it has Quick Call buttons on the main screen for quick phone calls. I use this a lot on my factory unit to call my 4 most frequent.
    • Bluetooth is questionable.
    • Older version of Android.
Also, I work in the tech world and it's unbelievable how many Android devices I've run across that are not worth the box they came it. The quality of many of these unknown brands do not have longevity and I've seen many break over a short period of time.

Anyhow, It is difficult for me to see the actual gain outside of a cool looking system but wanted to hear other's opinion on how they see it.

Just food for thought, Bluetooth hasn't been an issue at all and the unit is running Android 6.0.1

Did you upgrade or did the HU come with 6.0.1?

    Thanks

Good to know it uses a newer version. I thought someone reported that it came with version 4.4.x which could explain the poor Bluetooth on that statement. Are you still satisfied with it or do you view it more of a toy?
    Thanks!

I am satisfied with and especially for the 550 price, I feel you can't go wrong. I never used xm or voice assist options so it makes my choice a lot easier. I totally in understand people being reluctant. All I can say is it meets my needs in a stereo.

To be honest I am not sure, I think it might have updated as soon as it connect to wifi.

We update our phone's frequently and it has all the horsepower and apps needed. I really need something that will reliably display my phone onto the vehicles screen.

Also a few other things would be important. Bluetooth for calling, speed dial, backup camera, & old fashion AM/FM radio.

I have xm now, but barely listen to it, more Amazon music and such. When the kids are in, it's Transformers Rescue bots cartoons. But the coolness factor of this over another head unit is worth it!

The discount is LIVE right now!!! I just got mine for $533.50 with the discount code of SIGNUP3 for the 2G/64G model.

You can pay extra for expedited shipping ~$44 for me. I chose the free shipping option.

For those of you considering this with an iPhone, I just noticed that the "Mirror Link" support for the iPhone is only 1 way using WIFI unlike 2-way for the Android phone using USB or WIFI. Just FYI.

There may still be hope. I found this video of an iPhone connecting to an Android device through Mirror Link. The significance here is the Mirror Link connect screen in the video looks exactly like the one in the videos I've seen of the Phoenix HU.

When you get a chance, I was wondering how the mirror link is working now that you have had some time to really play with it since your last YouTube video? You stated when it was plugged in it worked fine and it was over WiFi you were having the issues.

Also wondering if the vendor got you an update to correct the iGo navigation not having US locations.

And, if you had to buy an ODB2 plugin to show the speed and tach on the screen or if that just comes standard?

Thanks for answering our questions. I tend to put more weight on your answers than some marketing/sale person at the vendor.

    Thanks again.

Interesting.... Has anyone here used Mirror Link before? I have no experience with iit. I wonder if the op has to confirm the link connection on the phone every singe time a connection is made or is it like Bluetooth and once a connection is confirmed it automatically connects from that point forward.

Can't wait to get mine in so I can use Torque Pro app on it and see realtime info like on my phone except I'll be able to fit a lot more gauges on that extra large beatiful display.
