What have you done to your 2nd gen Tundra today?

I found a TRD exhaust from a 2018 Crewmax for sale for $400 on marketplace. Muffler and tailpipe, everything on the Toyota parts says it should fit my 2013 double cab.

 

Is it just me, or am I seeing a picture of a stock exhaust fit with a chrome end?

 

Everything I know also says that it should fit, BUT, I don't believe the seller knows what they have. That looks to me like a standard exhaust and would probably be a like for like swap for what you already have on the truck. TRD exhaust normally refers to the dual muffler dual exit system - https://www.tundras.com/threads/trd-dual-exhaust-muffler-section-w-custom-h-pipe.46730/

 

I thought the Crewmax and Extended cabs had different part numbers for the exhaust. I would think the length dimensions would be different.

 

Crewmax and Double Cab 6.5ft bed have the same exact overall length and wheelbase, but I don't know the exhaust part numbers so they could very well be different.

 

This is definitely not the TRD dual system

Said good bye to the old girl today. 20 miles short of 200,000 in 12 years. Drove coast to coast 4 times. Saved my skin in that accident. I’ll surely miss her.

finally finished my driver's side LCA replacement after a couple weeks on jacks. the shitty MOOG ball joints were toast, the sway bar end link threads were stripped so the sway bar was disconnected on one side, so i just said fuck it and bought new LCAs. from experience, i figured all the bolts would be seized so i ended up buying every bolt needed with the intent of returning what i don't use. luckily the front bolts came out pretty easily, so that's like $100 saved there. it needed a new shock bolt and sway bar bolt, though. and the ball joint on the outer tie rod was toast so i replaced that, too.

On average, when do you know you need to replace your LCA's and ball joints? My truck is 13.5 years old now but only has 100k on it. Steering still feels fine on mine. Is this something you will feel or is there a rough time frame to replace these items?

 

take a look at your ball joints. visually, mine were fucked. they were loose as hell, wobbled like crazy. they're supposed to be practically immoveable. and i could shake my LCAs enough to see some play in the bushings as well. that and the stripped end link threads made my mind up for me. you can always just replace the ball joint and bushings, but you'll need a hydraulic press to get them out and back in. some shops might do that for you for a price. i didn't feel like adding all that to the mess, plus i have a toyota dealership parts connection, so i just bought new ones.

Depends on driving habits, road conditions, on or off road; not necessarily a time frame for when they go bad

when they are bad you might hear a clunking or popping when accelerating or braking, possibly turning the wheel or hitting bumps; you can verify by getting the wheel off the ground and checking for play

Short version: this is a before and after of fixing a few things on the front of my truck.

Long version: it started with replacing the plastic bumper valance that got cracked by a small tree branch. When I found out I'd be taking the whole bumper off, I figured why not address the other things I've been meaning to do in the front, including restoring the headlights and replacing the grille.

Also, excuse the weird light flares...I dropped my phone and cracked the glass over the camera lens.

The valance that started the project (in case you ever want to, you can use the 2010-13 valance on a 2007-09, even though parts sites say it doesn't fit):

Headlights -- unfortunately too far gone to fully restore (cracks and internal yellowness/cloudiness) but at least an improvement:

 

Got my SC in and did a thermal blanket on the underside. Also got my exhaust fixed as it was hanging on by zip ties at the rubber bushing since needing the extra drop from being lowered. Shop had a spare vband and took the rear donut gasket section out, as it always seems to leak. Everything all hidden now behind the bumper, put on a coat of BBQ paint I had leftover from another project.

Put in a new water pump, replaced the air/oil separator - not an aftermarket one, the one that sits on top of the valley plate under the intake manifold, it had gotten pretty nasty.

Icon Rebounds paired with 35s (285/75/18).Now I just need a little bit of lift. Yes it’s rubbing at full lock, but barely. I actually bought bumper shims form one of you, last year and now I have no fucking idea where they are

 

This was yesterday but forgot to post. Installed 6112/5160 combo and replaced UCA/LCA and outer tie rods with OEMs.

Perfect timing too since the boots were ripped on the UCA and tie rods and leftover grease was at a minimum.

LCAs are intact and in good condition it seems though.. interesting how it didn’t wear out like the orhers

 

Where is it rubbing at? When I put my big ones on it only rubbed the skid plate at full lock and just bending the corners back fixed it
