Wanted to chime in since it's been silent here for a bit to give a shout out to John Brewer in Albuquerque for tuning my 2021 yesterday. The tune definitely woke the truck up, shifts make more sense, and it chirped the tires, where before at the same throttle input, it never would have. That caught me by surprise. This has really made the truck more enjoyable to drive.

@JustDSM is Kaleb still the only option for Houstonians? That’s what it says on your website, but you had indicated otherwise on here.
Waco is pretty inconvenient, and I’d assume there’s a shitload of 4Runners, tacomas and Tundras/200s in Houston…

Kaleb does travel and I believe he has an affiliate there in the Houston area.

I've made him aware of your inquiry, and he should be in touch shortly. If he hasn't yet, you can coordinate with him by:

Looking to have the ott tune done, Anyone have any experience with the OTT tune specifically the spicy/extra spicy....(I think) settings compared to the medium/spicy settings and drivability? Speed and fuel mileage isn't a big issue just wondering how much of a difference there is and others opinions! Thanks in advance also mine is N/A not supercharged

I think you will quickly find that the throttle response from a stop in 1st gear will be way too sensitive, but you always have the option of going back and asking them to lower it. Even people who chose medium/spicy often went back and asked to have it tamed.

    Function before sparkle.
I was one of those people who needed to get it turned down.

At medium and I would chirp the tires if the intersection was bumpy. Also if I got on and then off the throttle from a stand still like at a slow moving intersection the truck would jerk too much. Went down a setting and the drivability improved considerably.

I did, however, keep a stronger throttle response when the tow haul mode is active. When towing +7k lbs it's nice and smooth.

Is there any point doing this tune if I don't want my throttle sensitivity changed?

There is still a pretty sizable torque increase and shift schedule updates that can improve the calibration even with OE throttle settings.

Worth it? Everyone’s idea of worth it varies. What are you trying to accomplish with a tune if you don’t want the throttle touched?

Yes, IMO. The lower mid-range power band (2000-3500 RPM) feels stronger and more responsive. Shifting feels better - the shift is smoother, shifting logic feels smarter and better timed, and it feels like it carries more power through the shift. I'm not talking about WOT shifts only; even puttering around town below 2500 RPM feels much improved. I'd wager it's a combination of minor throttle adjustments and fine-tuning the shift logic, but the end result is fantastic. At least, I felt it was. My throttle settings are somewhere between medium and extra boring on one truck, and I think regular old Medium on the sequoia (but I don't really know as it drives just about perfect compared to the Ok stock tune).

I haven’t read back through, but if a fella wanted a normal “mild/medium” throttle response tune that still nets the other positives, get that. Then add a spicy one in place of the OEM tow/haul mode.

Assuming OTT’s preferred software works anything like HP, it should be simple. Copy and paste the values into T/H mode and then change the throttle response segments.

    Best of both worlds!

So after reading all the responses one question I have is can you do a tow tune for the normal drive and a spicy drag type tune when you hit the tow/haul button? Or does one tune have to coincide with the next step up? For example can you have a medium tow type tune for normal drive and an extra spicy tune with tow/haul if I'm making any sense

Not to answer for Justin, but yes. Some guys do exactly that - regular tune is tame for every day driving, tow haul button switches to a completely different tune/throttle setting for getting rowdy. You could even do the opposite - spicy tune for regular driving, tow haul button to tame it down for low-traction situations like inclement weather or Offroad where throttle sensitivity can be a bad thing.

From personal experience, that was one of the best things about the tune. Speaking with some other speed-parts guys, they say the same thing about OTT - if for no other reason, get an OTT tune for improved transmission shifting.

Thanks for your response, i don't do alot of towing but would like to set it up for tow and go without having to remember to push a button and then set up tow/haul for having fun! I like getting rowdy from time to time, like having a bad day at work and wanting to let the frustrations out:devil:

I know its no replacement for a supercharger but if it makes normal driving better and opens it up a little at the same time it sounds like a win win to me!

We can configure the drive modes (Normal & Tow-Haul) to be setup however you like. If you were to schedule with us/a retailer of ours, please be sure to mention your specific configuration/setup preferences, as a configuration like what you describe would require us to build it.

That said, each drive mode can/does have unique throttle, shift schedule, and TCC settings. So you can configure them how you'd like based on how you want to use the truck. It'll probably be easier for us to send you a standard configuration file so you can experience/feel the settings before we go on a science experiment, configuring things in a custom way, and you've not even decided on the final settings yet.

In short, just let us know when you schedule/order that you'll eventually like things configured a specific way. We'll be happy to work with you once you've settled on your throttle/trans mapping.

I understand completely, and I have been talking to Appalachian offroad here in tennessee and will hopefully have somthing scheduled in the next month or so. I have an S&B cold air intake and dual exhaust so from what ive been told I need a custom tune from the get go. He also told me we can set things up one way and try it to see if I like it or if not we can adjust from there. I am looking forward to working with you all!

Whenever we tune a truck that is fitted with an aftermarket intake, we verify if the MAF needs to be scaled to correct the fueling error that can occur in some aftermarket intakes. Most end up requiring at least a clean-up. Some require a complete rework, but we custom scale each intake/truck combination individually to ensure accurate fueling among other things.

    Appreciate your interest and business!
