I'm in the same position no camera on 2024 limited nightshade swapping to heritage grille. Curious about a camera and harness to support OEM head unit.

    Lots of stuff!
I think the front camera is part of the 360 cameras and/or multiview cameras. It may be difficult to add just one camera but even more difficult to add all the cameras!

My Limited came with the 360 cameras which seems to be the only way we get the Limited with the TRD Offroad in Canada. They usually come on when the sensors detect something close. I can also turn them on with the thumb switch.

Maybe an aftermarket solution could work better but that might mean that you can't display the live feed on the head unit but maybe another screen! Which would suck.

Thanks. I was hoping there was a camera and harness that was plug n play to use head unit. I'll probably end up just using a dremmel and cut out the mount from the heritage grille.

Just poking this thread again. Anyone tried anything else? I’ve got a connector and pigtail from AliExpress that connects to factory rear view camera harness. Haven’t been able to get any image to come up though… My multimeter readings aren’t getting me anywhere either. I found the wiring schematic but there isn’t any colors associated with the OEM harness. Toyota is making this extra difficult.

Anyone have a diagram for a ‘25 from TIS they could share? Maybe it’s been updated with colors to see the connections.

With all the cool techy stuff on the 3rd gens I'm surprised they're making this so hard on you guys.

Do we know what kind & how many input(s) the HU has?

When I swapped in the big ass Kenwood and Maestro I added a tiny little front camera, and it's a HUGE help when stuffing the big beautiful pig into tight spots.

Programmed one of my steering wheel buttons to bring it up when I press and hold the UP arrow.

Okay now that’s pretty neat you can program a steering wheel button to do that. Was that a function of the Maestro? I’ve heard good things about those - almost went that route on my second gen Tacoma when I had it.

I’ve done a deep dive and the connector on the back of the head unit is a new one Toyota came out with. We have a part number but no way to source it anywhere or a pinout on it to specific wire colors…

I’ve got the anytime backup camera installed but can’t seem to figure out which wires go to what on activating another camera. I’ve gotten a few cheap cameras and tried but no luck so far - just a black screen.

I was hoping that one of the third party shops would have come up with a solution by now. Someone would make a killing selling it. I know the newest sequoias have the same connector and maybe the newest gen Tacomas.

Also to mention, many third gen guys done care as much since their rigs came with the camera package. It’s just us lowly SR and SR5 guys without the panoramic view package.
