Hello, I have a 2006 Limited 4x4. Driving down the road it just shut off. Will not turn over, does not show a code. Battery is only a year old and alternator is only a couple years old. Battery gage shows there is juice. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? HELP!

Run all of the wires and grounds. Corrosion can cause these kinds of issues. Water intrusion can also cause issues with on board computers. Also worth testing the battery. New or old they can suffer from heat and vibration damage and "drop a cell".

Timing belt break? When was the last time it was done?

First step so you're not beating your face on a wall: Pull the battery out. Go get it tested for free at the local auto parts store chain.

You need to understand, a battery with 13V or higher charge won't be able to fire off the starter if it has no cranking amps (CA/CCA). Batteries are VOLTAGE and AMPERAGE, you need both to turn over a truck.

Bad batteries happen. We see one every couple of months on here with 'no start' threads. Some are days/weeks old. Duds are a thing.

Once you know the battery is good - obviously, answer Nick's question, b/c timing belt/water pump/tensioner are supposed to be done every 90k or 9yrs (100k/10yr is acceptable) if you're using OEM parts, the V8 is a low-interference engine and you'll potentially kill it if that belt snaps while driving.

Likewise, if the timing belt WAS done, and you verify it's still intact by loosening the one of the timing covers and looking the belt is under tension, you need to verify the crank position sensor harness didn't get cut through by a pulley, it often gets mis-routed where it's not behind the accessory bracket, and gets clipped. Correct routing info here.

Sucks to hear that man. What brand of timing belt was used? What are you gonna buy for $3-5k that will be as good as what you’ve got? If my motor blows, I’m putting another one in it. Truck market is bonkers these days.

Sucks. How many miles were on the belt, do you know?

Timing belt snap, rust, and aftermarket lower balljoints are the #1 killers of these trucks. We make a point of warning everyone about this. New OEM belt will buy you 100k miles normally. Aftermarket timing belt shouldn't be used, but if used, replace at half the OEM recommendation (i.e. 45k-50k).

We did our best to beat the hell out of that point in the 'what you need to know about your Tundra' megathread.

Sorry to hear this. Definitely a gut shot.
Was the timing belt that broke from an Aisin kit or was it some other brand?

I was thinking EMP, but timing belt works too.
