Well my stupid self didn't put my new steering wheel back on exactly straight when I replaced the OEM sw so at 5:30 this morning guess what I was doing.I didn't catch it until last night while driving for the first time after replacement.Live and learn always test drive after you perform work on your vehicle. It also caused a little glitch and threw a LDA light to appear on the dash but after disconnecting the negative on the battery and repositioning the sw all is good :fingerscrossed: Mad at myself....at 66 I should know better

I have not done any sound deadening and wasn’t planning on it during the install. I was going back and forth about doing the precut door kit from soundskins, but wasn’t sure if the $400 would really make a noticeable difference if I had no plans of doing any additional sound deadening beyond that.

I havent heard the best results from precut soundskins. but there are many brands of good quality to use. Even if you only threw down a sheet behind each speaker in the door- it would make a difference.

It’s slightly frustrating, because seeing how full your bed was wouldn’t even be an issue if it was dumped into those brown paper home depot bags in my town.
We have unlimited yard waste collection.

Granted what you paid isn’t terrible. But still.. that’s annoying to have to lug it there.

My old tires were Goodyear Adventure, and I haven’t noticed any increase in noise from those. They were quiet too. Only tested them in heavy rain so far, where I felt stable, so I can’t speak to the 3PMS rating yet, but I’m happy with them so far. Price was good too.
Funny you mention the white lettering. I thought the same thing when researching, but totally forgot to ask at Discount if they’d do the white side out, or at least show me the diff. Oh well. If you go that route post a photo for sure.
Bought a propane torch so let’s see if I have any luck on the nut.

I do and we’ve done that in the past but it started getting too big along with all the leaves that drop in the fall, I probably do 5-6 truck loads like this a year grass and leaves combined.

If it weren’t for the damn HOA I’d just burn ‘em all

Finally installed my ESP locking three-door box. Had to use some touch up paint on some scratches from the seat brackets. Got it for a very nice price on Amazon Warehouse a while ago.

@snivilous wasn’t messing around today. Next suspension comes out. Then clean and prep the frame for the new updates. Transfer over all the stuff to the new motor. Need to order few more things, new o2s and wideband, new cats etc. since oil was all over the place.

Hoping someone might have some ideas for me...

I got the Trail Grid Pro 10 speaker Alpine bundle installed today.
    Alpine 10 Speaker Plug & Play Bundle | '14 - '21 Tundra – Trail Grid Pro

Everything went smooth and I was finished in about 3 hours, but took my time and it was about 105 degrees outside today so that also included a couple of breaks. These were connected to my Alpine IXL-F511 headunit and I tested them out when I was done. I thought it was a pretty massive improvement over the factory JBL system.

From there, I began installing the Trail Grid Pro Kicker JBL Bypass Plug & Play 5 Channel amplifier kit.
Kicker JBL Bypass Plug & Play 5-Channel Amplifier Kit | '14 - '21 Tund – Trail Grid Pro

I pulled the head unit and ran the remote turn on wire along with the RCA's to under the front passenger seat. I mounted an amp rack to secure the amplifier, ran the power wire from the battery and tidied everything up. I then followed a youtube video to set the amplifier gains using my voltmeter. This was done by turning the head unit volume up 3/4 of the way and the speaker leads were disconnected from the amplifier. I played a 1K test tone and slowly turned up the gain setting to achieve the correct voltage (16.12V) which is 65W at 4 ohms which is what the amplifier specs are. After the gains were set I plugged in the speaker leads to the amplifier and gave it a go. This is where I was a bit disappointed...for some reason the new speakers sounded great with the OEM JBL amp, but once I swapped the OEM amp for the Kicker one it didn't sound nearly as good. Not sure why this would be. I did some googling and it says the OEM JBL amp has a built in DSP and the Kicker does not which is why it sounds worse.

Does that make sense? I'd be a little surprised based on how they market the plug and play bundles that it would end up worse or maybe there is something that I am just missing. Is everyone here running a DSP when replacing the OEM amp? Is this needed?

Sound deadining is worth the effort and cost. Highway road noises is so much quieter and it will also improve the sound quality of the sound system!!
