If you could find a used sheet of aluminum on craigslist or the marketplace, then it might be worth the extra bucks to have a machine shop put a couple bends in it. It would take them all of 5 minutes….closer to 30 minutes if they have to shear it to size.

planning on getting SPC Performance Upper Control Arms (25460) since i got the bilstein lift and my alignment numbers are close, but not exactly in specs. has anyone gotten these? worth the buy or go with another brand? says there specifically designed for 4 runner/ tacoma but after some digging it says they will fit fine on my tundra

SPC are nice, if you want the extra adjustability -- like for anything bigger than a 33" tire. But you'll have to either know exactly what you want from em or find a competent alignment guy for em. You can adjust camber and caster with the SPCs, and the upper ball joints are greasable. Not sure if their newer UBJs still are. But the odd ones like I have are, and should be greased at least every other oil change.

There are other options with no extra alignment settings to mess with, like the JBAs, with sealed UBJs and greasable bushings. Total Chaos uniball, Camburg uniball -- just gotta make sure to clean and spray grease on those somewhat often.
What else..? I'm pretty sure I'm missing at least one more decent brand UCA.

I don't recommend KSP or Freedumb off-road UCAs.

Skip it. Get JBA uppers. Most people don’t need the added adjustability of SPC arms. Even more shops don’t understand how they work enough to help you leverage that. Speaking as someone with SPCs here, I’ve experienced the shop shortcomings directly.

I just put 6112 bilsteins in and the JBA UCAs. The JBAs are good quality, more affordable, and simple. I like them.

GA had seen a lot of rain lately and this is the first week that it's been dry so we had a bit of postponement of the heat. Now it's here in all it's glory and the humidity is just smothering. Walking outside feels like you get immediately wrapped in a hot, damp, wool blanket. I was coated in sweat just trimming the hedges yesterday in a 30 minute period. Yuck.

We've got some rain here recently, which made it humid here. We do not like the humid here.

Anyone running a Makita impact wrench? Looking at getting one so I can stop using the 1/4" impact driver. Not going to purchase a Milwaukee. Even though I have a 120v 1/2" impact, I'm thinking the Makita 1/2" mid torque would be better than the compact 3/8" even though it's 2lbs heavier.

I have a question on the coolant tube that runs under the intake:
When I did timing belt and made post about aluminum corrosion.
Due to color I now think it was actually crystallized coolant.
I think, going to give it some time to make sure wasn’t just air in system, may have a leak where line connects to water pump.

When putting on the water pump i thought the water bypass No. 2 had too much movement, but since the back bolt on line at back of intake was solid I rationalized that must be the way supposed to be.

Now examining exploded views it seems there is another bolt that holds it to the starter.
    Is this correct??
FSM shows it on CO-5 but doesn’t show the bolts.
Looking at exploded view on parts finder looks like there is maybe a second bolt holding it to starter??
    Can anyone confirm this?
If so I think mine is loose at the starter due to the play I noticed when I reassembled.

Both those DCs are really nice.
I did do an engine pull, (had it rebuilt) and re-install way back in the 90s on an OBS. what could go wrong...

Today I finally realized the need for a steering wheel wrap when I practically burned my hands touching the wheel even after putting a sun shade under the windshield.

Damn, it’s both hot and soupy out. Feels like I’m in the Everglades. Not sure how people acclimate themselves to it when you break out in a sweat doing any work outside.

Yup, exactly why I installed irrigation/sprinkler setup for the yard recently. They're kicking on in the next 10mins, actually. Gotta monitor those tonight to make sure they work as expected with my most-recent smarthome hub update.

Looks great. Could be a good buy for someone, hardest part will be finding a VVTi engine ... unless you were to, like, do yourself a solid, and toss an LQ9 into that joker, and have some real fun....

The truth is you never really do acclimate.
You just suffer through it like a man, learn to strategically time your outside exposures (both when and duration), or all the above.
I go through baby powder like crazy down here. ;)

If I gotta work on the truck, it's in the garage with fans going. But I try to avoid all that this time of year. If I'm outside it's because I'm doing yard work, I'm exercising, I'm going from my truck to a building (or vice versa) or I'm relaxing in the pool/river.

Finally found my answer to the No. 2 bypass hose question here in the first picture.
Yes it does bolt to starter too, and because there was so much slack in mine I think my bolt might have come out.
Don't know for sure yet, but just thought there was too much front to rear movement when installing the water pump to be correct.
