So I finally found out why my right front tire may have been wearing prematurely on the outside edge.

    IMG_1601.jpg

8 lbs too low on the right while all other tires were at 28 lbs, this one was at 20 lbs.

Weird coincidence or sabotage? I’m thinking the latter. I don’t know how one tire can get that low over the others unless there was a miniscule leak.

I’m willing to bet it won’t come back now.

28lbs is low too. I think the door calls for 32 or 35lbs

I usually do 35, but I believe they call for 28 lbs. I have to check the door jamb.

I know this is one of those subjective topics, and different tires blah blah blah, but I always run 35-40 on pavement and 15-20 off pavement.

A Ford was stuck on a trail when I went up to Big Bear this winter and he was running 60! I thought my gauge was broken when I went to deflate his tires

Reminds me of the time me and Casey met RTT Land Cruiser guy on the trail one night, At HF. He was drunk AF, stuck in mud, with tires fully inflated.

It can certainly be a bit of a pain depending on how rusty everything is! I try my best to do everything myself, saves so much on labour costs and I get to learn a thing or two.

This thing came with tripod style camper jacks, and they're sketchy af. I've been looking on FB marketplace for used corner jacks but they're either too expensive or too far away. I need a different way to lift this though.

Yeah, so i've never looked at it. I'm surprised it's so low for the fronts  Seems like that would wear worse?

What’s the difference between 106S, 111S & 110S? Your 06 doesn’t even look factory made with that tire graphic.

Fuck if I know. Probably just codes the factory used for the corresponding tires

I think those are load ratings of some sort.
LT tires require more pressure than standard load/p-metric, different sizes require different pressure for the same loads...

The letters at the end of the numbers like "S" is the speed rating.

I guess it would depend on position of the load.... but if centered over the wheel I wonder if it would still be 100lbs.
A Weighmaster would know this equation

Key Factors That Influence Load Distribution:
    1. Vehicle Wheelbase: Longer wheelbases distribute weight more evenly.
    2. Load Position: If the 100 lbs is directly over the rear axle, nearly 100% goes to the rear.
    3. Suspension Type and Chassis Flex: Some small amount of weight might transfer to the front due to chassis flex or suspension geometry, but it’s minimal.
    4. Incline or Decline: Parked on a hill? That affects distribution slightly.
    General Rule of Thumb:
    • If 100 lbs is placed directly over the rear axle:≈ 100 lbs to the rear, 0 lbs to the front.
    • If 100 lbs is placed behind the rear axle (like in a truck bed or trailer tongue):It adds leverage, so the rear may take on more than 100 lbs, and some weight may actually be lifted off the front axle, reducing its load.
    • If it’s placed forward of the rear axle (like inside the cargo area of an SUV):It could be something like 90 lbs rear, 10 lbs front, depending on position.
    Example Calculation (Estimate):
Let’s say a vehicle has a 120-inch wheelbase (10 feet), and you place 100 lbs 30 inches behind the rear axle:
    • This creates a cantilever effect, increasing the load on the rear axle and unloading the front slightly.
    In that case:
    • Rear may absorb 110–120 lbs
    • Front may lose 10–20 lbs of load
    In Summary:
    • Directly over rear axle: ~100% rear
    • Behind rear axle: >100% rear (some front weight lifted)
    • Forward of rear axle: ~90% rear, ~10% front

    Nope, not gonna work. :)

I'll find corner jacks eventually. Everything seems to be near Boise for some reason. I did that trip to buy the truck, but it doesn't feel worth it for anything less than a truck. 5 1/2 hours.

We had a new guy at the shop years ago and we asked him to put air in the customers tire. This guy comes back with the car and each tire is at 70/80 PSI. We tried to teach him throughout his year with us but he just could not retain a lot of the information.

I hope he's doing better now.

I’ve heard about people who struggle to get their tires up to 100% on the dash.
