Getting ready to swap out my buckets from 04 DC for a 60/40 bench seat from 01 AC.

I understand that there is an airbag wiring issue that I have to deal with on the passenger side(??)

And one hole may not line up for which I may need to fab a bracket.

Also, I probably need seatbelt hardware that was bolted to the floor on the bench AC truck.

Can I leave my drivers seat alone and just swap the passenger side (remove console)?
In otherwords, is the drivers side the same in both bench and buckets? Is the only difference the center and passenger side? It appears this way, and it would be nice to retain my power options which the bench model does not have.

Thank you all so much. Let me know if I'm missing anything., and pray I don't mess up!!

I’ve pulled the buckets in an AC truck. I’ve ridden in a bench truck. I’m of the opinion that you should do one or the other and not the hybrid you’re considering. I’m also unsure why you’d convert to a bench, unless it had one before, doesn’t sound like your dilemma though. Post pics when you’re finished

I'd like to make room for one more person on occasion when I take the family camping.

If it's the exact same size drivers seat on the bench and the bucket doesn't really seem like a hybrid.

For example look at these photos. There is one of each and they appear the sameScreenshot_20250606_211931_Google.jpg Screenshot_20250606_211108_eBay.jpg Screenshot_20250606_211931_Google.jpg

You may have to search around a bit on here, but I swear someone said the bucket seats and the Driver portion of the 60/40 are not the same; the bucket seat is larger.

I have done a lot of searching, but I bought a 60/40 bench yesterday. When I get mine out I will take a closer look and report back here

I have a captains driver bottom on my bench. From another AC, not DC

Do take detailed pics and let us know. The question has been asked many times before, but I'm not sure it's been answered.

Heck yes! I love people experimenting with their own money. I’m in the same boat as you, I’d love the optionality of an extra seat now and then.

I can confirm that it is totally doable in your AC. I cannot confirm for the DC.

I have done the opposite and took out my bench seat in my 2006 DC and installed buckets. The arm rest is in the way on your existing bucket seat. Otherwise, the holes matched up for me (seat exchange from same year truck though). I'm still trying to figure out the wiring because the occupant sensor and the seat location sensors aren't the same as what was in the bench seat. So similar to you the plugs don't match.

I haven't been able to really look into it to see what I need to do but I saved the wire harness and sensors from my old seats. I would suggest doing the same and trying to grab the harness and sensors from the bench seat that you're getting.

I am also sourcing front 60/40 bench seats to replace my bucket seats on my 06 DC that I purchased for camping trips to accommodate my family of 6.

I will update my results when completed successfully or if I need advice to do so.

But I look forward to any other feedback that can help. Thank you in advance.
