I wonder if it wasn't automatically in all of them for the 2022 model year? Maybe you are right about it only being in Crewmax. Everything I could find on it always said that it was on any truck with the JBL, but if wouldn't be the first time something like that was misreported. Especially when it's not advertised and promoted as a feature by Toyota.

Probably a long shot, but maybe delete the Carista app and reinstall? Maybe there was a glitch when you originally downloaded it. Also, your dealer can turn it off too, so maybe ask them if the can or can't see the option.

    Ok…

I am baffled to no end. I have my truck in for the communication module failure and the seat panel cracking. I inquired about the fake V8 sound and the ANC. My service advisor looked at me with an oddity in his eyes and said Toyota doesn’t have that. WHAT is going on here.

I walked around after giving my keys and went inside to find a salesman that I befriended after my purchase. He is a real standup guy and I feel for sure will not mislead me. His response was “I have no idea and never heard of it”. What in the world is going on? He did state at least that is not a sales point they are given to put out to prospective buyers.

While waiting for my son to pick the truck up, I did ask my service advisor (which I have been working on a strong business relationship with) to look into this as it is widely spoken about within the Tundra community, especially gripes about the fake noir to turn it off. And I would like to know why it would not be on mine, if he finds out about it.

I am very confused to say the least !

Holy shite! Crazy that none of them know about it. It's definitely a thing.

I hate to ask, but did you double check to make sure you selected Tundra in the Carista app?

That’s a good question. I don’t recall selecting a vehicle. I just hit connect. I saw where the seat belt dinger was disabled for all 5 seats. It definitely connects and should know what it is connected to.

I didn’t see where to select a vehicle in the Carista app when I just opened it. I did see where to report an issue and just did.
Here is a snip from my Monroney sheet showing the JBL premium sound system.

My money is on this being the answer right here. (No ESE or ANC in Double Cabs.) Maybe just the early ones like OP's '22?

Your sales person and SA at this dealership are not very well informed to say the least.

Quit calling it "fake v8 sounds" because they are right, Toyota doesn't have that. Ask them about enhanced engine soundand see if they know what you are talking about.

Go use Google, pull up articles from auto mags that talk about it to show them.

If the dealer just wants to argue semantics, sure.
WE all KNOW that's what it truly is, but Toyota would obviously never refer to a "feature" as "fake V8 sounds", nor do they even acknowledge it (ESE) anywhere obvious.

I'll bet they (OP's dealer) don't know what ESE is either.

It's been almost 2 years since I've used it so I'm guessing you're right about not having to select a vehicle. You do have to select one when checking their website site, so that's where I'm probably getting that idea from.

Show them this. Tell them to hook up tech stream and check it.

FYI: My service mgr said they no longer use Tech Stream. It is another software package that, apparently, isn't as easy to navigate (probably is and they're so used to Tech Stream they don't like it, yet).

According to the car care nut it is still tech stream, but it's a new version with different access and more difficult.

Just got a call from my SA. He said the tech scanned my truck and it was not there. He scanned another truck and it was there.

Obviously, this feature is not on all trucks.

The question is, what is the criteria for this option? To not be a double cab???

Any double cab people out there have it?

I am a little miffed about this. I don’t have noise cancelling.

I know I know maybe not a very popular opinion but... a LOT of people know about the <some engine sound name reference here>... the fact that a Toyota service department doesn't know is kinda surprising.

OH! Ask them if they know about the button in the brakelight to drop the tailgate... ha. The one with all the youtube shorts titled: "hidden Tundra features!"...

Look at my options in Carista for customize. From the top is most popular, then dings and warnings etc etc. Now look at the video example, it has most popular, then engine & chassis and then dings & warnings. I AM in the correct area, I just don’t have that option where the ANC and the ESE is at to be controlled.
