I think that video works beautifully once the thermostat is installed. My 19 did not have that pin location until I added it, though.

While they weren't fast, man those little Taco's sounded good. I always loved driving a 5 speed SC Tacoma.

Depending on how it is all set up I would worry about vibration. I would probably want a sleeve and thread the nozzles through those if you were spraying each runner.

Moved wires from my Haltech flying lead harness over to the Boomslang plug-and-play harness, added sensor inputs, sensor grounds, DPO outputs and CAN plug wiring. I still need to join the sensor grounds, join the 12v switched wires and extend those for termination in the truck. Once I get over my analysis paralysis and choose a mounting location I can get everything trimmed down, terminated and loomed.

    upload_2025-5-31_11-35-46.jpg

I also got my 8HP information over to CANformance, and they have sent me the appropriate firmware and eeprom to flash, Ill get that done today.

IMG_2782.jpg So I only got to take the pan off yesterday but today I’m finishing it up. In the instructions it says 12 25mm, 4 36mm, 2 45mm and 2 50mm. I’m missing 1 of the 36mm and 1 of the 45mm. Just wondering if you guys were the same or I’m SOL because I’ve looked everywhere.

Count them on the valve body.. But that top left piston looks pretty thrashed.

Well I’m an idiot.. One of the bolts must’ve been in one of my rags and it was at the bottom of the trash, all good there. As for the scoring on the piston not much I can do about that right now. Anyone know where I can get another one?

Anyone know if that piston comes in a Sonax shift kit?

    Loved the standard shift!!
But it could be a Pain in the Ass when wheeling trying to get up a hill/obstacle.
You'd have to do the two foot hussle going from the Brake to the Cutch.
Fixed that issue by making a hand throttle with a Mountain Bike brake lever that I cut down to make it shorter and a rear brake cable from a bicycle built for two.
You could easily use one finger to give it some gas to get it going and then go back to the gas pedal on the floor.
I thought about using a pulley type design to get full throttle but you really didnt need to.
It gave me about a third of the throttle which was fine since all you were trying to do was get the truck moving then you'd go back to the gas pedal.
    Worked Like a Champ!!!

Ground down those edges and made some vacuum leaks, still need to tap, plug and reinstall

Got the valvebody in and wrapped up. I filled with fluid but don’t have time today to go for a drive and check the level. I’ll report back tomorrow.

Surprised a bunch of V8's over the years.
The whine always gave me away when I got into it,assuming the guy next to me understood what he was hearing.
I certainly hope the Tundra comes back to me with that whine.....hopefully way louder when I get on it.

Looking good! Sure are making some progress. I'm waiting for my snout bearings to show up before I remove the SC. I'll try and open up the entrance a tad more and polish the inside. Waiting for the direct port kit to show up...

A little digging and it looks like we may have a winner here. The individual Sonnax piston that comes in the shift kit is Piston Kit part # 57917E-19K. Normally utilized in the valve body of several different Aisin transmission models including the A750, A760, and our AB60. The parts in the upper valve body certainly look like the main body accumulator B1 # 35424-60030.

This guy on instagram is shown installing it on a 760 in the same position.

Probably worth a call to Sonnax on Monday.

So those pistons are the same that are in the valvebody and on the transmission side? The one I need is the transmission side.

Yes, at this point, that appears to be the case. That video on Instagram shows a Sonnax valve body piston being installed on the transmission side. Sonnax should be able to verify this, though it’s funny they don’t offer it in their shift kit.

Yes I saw that, maybe I’ll cancel the oem one then as this seems to be a better solution.

It’s looks like a good swap… BUT again… I’d like to hear some thoughts on this from Sonnax or TransGo before the swap.

Both Transgo and Sonnax have good customer service. Knowledgeable and will answer your questions. I spent 30 minutes on the phone inquiring about their kits.

I just got done with the fill procedure, I dumped the old stuff into a container and got damn near 8qts of old stuff out with the swap. I then added another .5-.75qts after the check plug came to a trickle at around 108-115F. The test drive will happen tomorrow but I did notice when going back and forth between reverse and drive it seems reverse is pretty aggressive when it clicks in. Drive wasn’t nearly as aggressive.

Yeah, when it kicks to reverse it does lurch pretty aggressively compared to stock. Best to have your foot on the brake! The more I drive around with the VB the more I appreciate the improvements I’ve noticed.

Oh yeah. I was helping my mom plant some trees. She needed to back my truck up. I said to press hard on brake pedal. Nope...puts it in reverse and does a mini burnout.
The reverse and forward on IPT are aggressive when engaged. Makes sense with WAT since they all use the same kits.
