the poke is not bad at all. I’ll take some up close profile pics. I think it’s more photo perspective trickeration. I’m no flat brim brodozer owner…. lol.

edit: I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the OEM wheels. I know a lot of people really like them.

Yes x2. Those are nice OEM wheels but the overall appearance now is much better. Well done @Dirt Ferguson

I like the how it started picture the best. But I'm older so what do I know.
Hard to beat the OEM look (minus the rake)...

I think they may be the originals; not sure if they were ever rebuilt, but they probably have about 200k miles if I remember correctly. The truck was babied and everything is pretty spotless. I might start by swapping the driver-side one since that one is aftermarket from a collision previous owner had and it has way more resistance than the passenger side.

So today I test ran the roof rack I’ve been working on(man did I underestimate the difficulty of this project!). IMG_0949.jpg
IMG_0950.jpg It whistled like a pig, huge bummer. Had left only about a 1/4” space if not less. Had, not sure what it’s called but this stuff…IMG_0954.jpg
And now it’s as quiet as before. What a relief!

Oh and a new issue today, greasing things underneath the truck and noticed a zerk fitting missing on the driveshaft. I was so confused at 1st lol. Easy enough fix IMG_0951.jpg

@Voss Wow dude that roof rack looks incredible! Mustve been annoying and tedious to fit the contour of the roof! Glad you got it nice and quiet too

Thanks bud. Yeah each section, down to its attachment points were a pain. Mostly eyeballed the entire thing by slowly grinding down to fit.
Still have a little work to do but hard part over.

You should trace the countour on some cardboard and keep at template around! Maybe useful if you wanna make another one or to give to someone else. Just seeing yours makes me want to build one but I dont know what id put up there, haha

Good idea. I have lights, a solar panel & one day a sun based water heater going up there. Also hoping it helps with MPG as a windbreaker for my tent.

@Jack McCarthy hey buddy, any luck on your leak? I have a drip from the same spot. Luckily one of my extra drain pains catches it in the mean time when it rains until I figure out a fix. thanks!

I’m waiting for the next rain storm but covering the 3rd brake light didn’t give me any water issue, however it only lightly rained after I put the 2” tape on there.

If successful, I’ll have to buy that $15 brake light gasket to fix it.

Last time I used electrical tape on the brake light, it was only 3/4” wide, so it buckled after a few rain storms potentially giving me the problem again.

We're supposed to have rain this week, so I'll try the 3rd brake light taped and report back. Thanks

WTF?!? How does only one tire wear like that and at such an angle?

    IMG_0070.jpg

Edit: Just my imagination. The other one is similar, it just hasn’t worn off the tread just yet.

I think the camber was a little positive from the last alignment. But they can go in more if needed.

Definitely a possibility, but the camber is a little positive on both sides but within spec.

Feathering is usually a toe thing, IIRC. You'd think it'd be a positive camber issue, but usually toe wear is edge wear. If it's equally like that on both sides, it's more likely overinflation.

Our '20 Highlander was showing identical feathering on both front tires, but only 1/4 of the wear you're showing on front-passenger. I rotated front to rear recently. I was told "latest gen of Highlanders naturally tend to have edge wear up front", not sure if I believe it. Really need to take it in to be aligned. I was just shocked it was necessary after so few years.

I've seen multiple brand new vehicles that needed alignments. Factory is close enough, until the suspension settles after 500-1k mi.

It’s not really feathering. You can feel the tread getting lower going across the tire and it’s relatively a smooth transition, not choppy.

I never have much luck with t*ts or tires anyway.

Trying to get a good alignment vs good “enough” is like pulling teeth and I’ve had LCA bushing issues that led to premature wear in the past.

    Anyway.....

Finally got the replacement bolt. Surprised to see it has what looks like blue locktite. Based on previous experience I think I'll be removing it. Also bought a grommet for the cam position sensor since mine has been missing.
