went to the dealership last week for a oil change and tire rotation and ask the service advisor how much a tune up would be as i missed the 60k mile service ( truck now has 88k ) ( this advisor isnt mine, not that it matters ) and he gives me a price of almost $500 for a tune up.

i thought this was a bit much and just said ok.....so for those that have had theirs done on the

    5.7's how much was it ( 2018 ) ?

    Too many, but not enough....
Tune up has as many definitions as there are opinions. If you want a complete one, do ALL of your fluids, drain and fill. Change pcv, clean your throttle body, clean your MAS airflow sensor, get a new air and cabin filter, grease your zerks if you have them, check/change brakes/fluid.

All that would be less than 200 if you did it yourself.

Not sure what they want to do for tune up, but I can tell you my local dealer tried to sell me a 600 dollar spark plugs change on my wife's 45,000 mile rav 4 along with a 717 dollar rear brake job, that was 4 plugs by the way, at any rate the dealership has lost any maintenance on my tundra or her rav, find out more before you take it to dealership better yet find a good local garage

I've seen people do 30k tune ups over 1k. Mine was 900 at a smaller shop. That included all fluids changed, filters and a HD service. It really can vary depending on how far you want to go. 500 for just plugs seems more than reasonable though, hopefully some fluids in there.

You CANNOT do a full fluid swap and everything under 200 dollars like another poster said, the tranny fluid and transfer case fluid costs that much itself. Then you add in the filters and other fluids...
