A little over 11k on the new engine, almost out of warranty.. Running great.

    Hm,
My dealer rep said "1 year, unlimited mileage" warranty on the replacement engine....but I certainly won't argue that he was 100% correct on that (which, I assume, wouldn't be the case, and 12K/1yr sounds more standard)

Do we have a definitive answer for this, from anyone here?

I dont remember if it was notRyan who posted but yes, my understanding is 1 year, 12k. It's posted here somewhere.

Depends on the dealer it seems. Toyota sent out special engine hoists for these jobs. Mine was through the hood. Best to ask.

I used Rick Hendrick in Sandy Springs. Best for service that I’ve used. I would avoid World Toyota - we had a bad experience there.

Jim Hudson Toyota (Sumter SC) A+ engine, fuel line and brake squeak replaced. Had a nice Highlander as loaner. No issues with truck after work…so far. Very pleased with outcome.

Done last week. Engine runs smoother, feels less confused about how to respond to throttle input. Definitely quieter: my high pressure fuel pumps clacked like a couple of old crows before. AC doesn't seem as cold, but no noise from the compressor. Surprised they didn't change the serpentine belt, woulda asked for a new one if I knew they weren't changing. Service department was awesome, they even sent me pix (at my request).

Rental truck situation was a shit show, but that's on Enterprise, not the dealership who arranged it. Overall happy. Got three other recalls done, transmission thingy, fuel line and emergency brake, now I see the new one on reverse lights, ffs.

Also asked them to update the headunit software, which they did without charge, even though they struggled with it over more than three attempts.

PSA- I have been meaning to post this for quite awhile. The guys swapped the engine, but the oil change reset was never reset, so it was off. Not a huge deal, but something to make sure to keep track of.

I plan on keeping the service intervals where they are. Running the break in oil the new engine comes with until it hits the first scheduled interval. That would give me a bit of a break in oil change and then back to the regular intervals. If that makes any sense.

Wow, that sucks man! Great job on catching the oil filler cap being off. Wow, I hate that crap!
