I'm about to do a drain/refill coolant on my 2012 truck and decided to run a little coolant strip test.
Last time coolant was changed was 2017. Since then I put 45K miles on the truck mix of highway, off road and light towing (mostly ATVs). I'm in the southwest.
well the results are in :)

original coolant in my radiator (7 1/2 years old, 45K miles): pink Toyota coolant shows 50% Glycol and PH of 8.

New coolant out of the Toyota jug: you guess it...50% glycol and PH of 8.

Seems the fluid is very stable after all those years/miles.

Anyone else got similar results ? Please share.

I did mine at almost 100k miles and it came out pink. Looked great, no metal shavings or anything.

yeah I started thinking about it after watching the infamous Car Care Nut video on toyota coolant going acidic after few years/mileage. I wish he would have confirmed his theory by measuring coolant PH.

Have watched the car nut vid also and it does draw concerns Where did you get the PH strips? Was looking around for them and not sure what to buy.

Amazon. Give it a try. In my case I don't see any difference with the new Toyota coolant. PH is what I was looking for since there is a mention of acidity.
Now we don't know the whole history of that truck in the video. Previous owner could have used a non Toyota one or mixed in the past. Lots of variables before reaching that conclusion imo.

Concur ... I think CCN is an excellent mechanic with his vast experience with Toyota's but may be a little full of shit when it comes down to the engineering/longevity aspect of items.

My 149k Camry coolant tested just as well as the coolant that replaced it.

I thought the Amazon coolant testing strips were a swiz until I tested my ATV's and one did show a decline in one of the parameters, can't recall which one.
