Question for our Tundra community... We've gotten a LOT of messages and calls recently, so many that we had to ask you all: Would you want to see an overlay that covers up the chrome on the lower door guard of your Tundra?

Attaching the most recent customer photo on where he wanted the overlay to be. If you did want an overlay, were there particular colors you'd want to see it in? This is something we could definitely work on designing, just wanna know everyone's thoughts first.

I'd definitely be interested in a black overlay that would match your other black overlays. I'm curious how a body matched overlay would look in that area.

If there was a way to delete the long trim piece and just leave a blacked out version of the 1794 badge that would be what I'm really looking for.

That's good to know! The only issue I'd see happening with that would be if there wasn't a gap between the trim piece and the badge, in my mind that wouldn't look super clean? (Again, we won't know for sure until we test it, just hypothesizing). I think a body-matched overlay would look cool! :)

Have not...the oem pieces dont tend to hold too well and I've had them replaced twice already due to failed double sided tape. Been eyeing something like this as I am not a fan of the black chrome on my Platinum, but the main "blade" of the hockey stick looks wonkey to me with the little dip they put in there.

If you guys plan on making overlays for these, it might get TIGHT where the two pieces meet.

Yeah, I took a look at the thread you linked to, and I see where it's gonna get tight when you open the doors. Luckily we design all of our parts to be tight fitting overlays so we have that going for us, but don't want to make it so thin that it won't protect that area of the truck. Hmmm...

I know this is a few weeks old but, I’ll post anyways. I don’t hate the black hockey stick on my platinum, but I do hate the chrome lettering. I’d be happy with something that just overlays the word platinum to make it more subdued.

they make a chrome delete for literally every other spot on this truck but that lettering…

I would definitely be interested in matte blk but would like for Capstone to show.
The wrap/overlay you said has a tight fitment this won't pop or fall off in high temps, will there be expansion where this could be subjected to fall off or better yet cause the existing badges to fall off.

During the 22 & 23 production of the Platinum trims which are blk there were popping, peeling and falling off and the chrome versions were not.
I would like the blk ones but hesitant if it'll jeopardize my existing badge and also would the trim lettering be exposed or will this be a self done custom cut with an Exato knife.

Many thanks in advance for even considering making these.

I don't see this part expanding. The 3m tape we use for installation is pretty tight and also helps with the overlay retaining its shape. Additionally, our parts don't peel or fall off. I know that Toyota had a recent issue with their darker chrome peeling on certain models.

If we do end up designing/manufacturing these, we'll be extra cautious to ensure the overlays don't interfere with surrounding elements as we cut everything precisely based on the parts exact dimensions.

One of our top requests is to make overlays for the Toyota emblem and words. As of now, we can't do emblems without paying some crazy licensing fee, but I'm wondering if we would have to do the same thing for the "Platinum" verbiage. Hmmmm....

How about just a knock out for the verbiage, the consumer could make the request to have it covered or knocked out...

That's an interesting point! Don't think we'd have to go through any extra processes for that either.

A win for you and also for the ones who want to see the trim level and for the people who do not want it visible
Just make it an option on selection process.

This is why I love this forum, y'all out here letting us know what Tundra owners actually want and giving us some really cool ideas  I'll be bringing these points up to the design team along with the feedback for the door guard covers as well.
