That sounds and looks pretty tasty, nice job! I might have to try your recipe. I’ve been ordering this stuff lately not sure I could replicate it but I like a good black pepper marinade/rub. I’ve been wanting to try to make my own and could probably double the amount of actual jerky for the price by making it myself. IMG_0265.jpg

    Weird...
For some reason this sounds familiar.
Cant say why since I've never used this recipe.
Probably came across one similar over the years.

This butcher shop up the road has some phenomenal jerky they make in house. It has a slight bit of hickory flavored wetness on it that is the best.

You actually measure? Way more professional than my lazy ass. Here's mine and it varies depending what I remember and have on hand.

2 packs Au Jus mixed with 1/2 the water called for on the packs
    A good amount soy sauce
More Worcestershire sauce than you think you should use
    Salt
    Fresh ground black pepper
    A small amount of sugar
    Garlic powder
    Onion Powder
    Red pepper flakes

Nice, thats the same one I have. Works good and easy to use, I see you remove the drip pan while doing the jerky that’s smart. I hope to catch some fresh salmon this year and try my hand with some on the smoker.

Yep, no use for that when doing jerky. Also, the foil on the bottom and the smoke box, that baked on shit is a bitch to clean without it.

    Nice!!
Was just telling the Wife earlier today we need to start cooking more.
Was on a BBQ Cook off team for a lot of years and we both enjoy cooking.
Kind of been stuck in a rut lately.
With Summer coming on it's time to get outside and get after it!!

    Sounds like a great plan.

I used to cook for my small family every chance I got.....almost always had a grill fired up on those cooks.

Son moved out during college and is doing great...has his own home.

Wife passed away 4+years ago, 53 years old....cancer.
I haven't fired up a grill since the battle with her cancer started. Can't bring myself to do so.

Friends and family are urging me to get out there and start dating again. I'm starting to give it serious thought.
My wife tried to prepare me for living without her....pre-approved of me doing so during some tough conversations that she forced me to participate in.

Feel like a dude standing atop a super tall ski slope.....and I forgot how to ski.

    NICE!!
    One of my Favorites!!
A quick sear on both sides...Done.
I'll never forget the first time I ordered it at one of our favorite seafood restaurants.
I had no idea what I was getting into.
When it hit the table I was a bit shocked to see thin sliced pretty much uncooked Raw Tuna!!
    My first thought was.....Sushi!!
If I were trying to describe the taste to the uninitiated I would say Clean!!

I highly recommend you try it!!!
You can find it at most high end grocery stores.
Or even semi high end grocery stores.
    Look for the color.

Maybe my post wasn't clear enough. It's not that I've never had a piece of tuna before, so I know where and how to select a nice cut of it. I've just never considered cooking one at breakfast. I'm guessing the over easy egg yolk will pair well with the tuna though.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know if this will be of any help or not, but all I can do is pass along what I found to be true when I lost one of the closest people to me in the world (not a spouse but a family member).

There does come a time when doing the things you used to do together (whether that's grilling and eating a good flame cooked meal or anything else) becomes a pleasant reminder of the person, instead of a painful reminder of the loss. But I also found that everyone's path and timeline when it comes to grieving is their own, and there's no such thing as "getting over it". It's more like you learn to live with it, and learn to live without the person. And that is a long process. The last thing I'd say I found, is that you will never be the same, but in the long run, you'll be a better and stronger man for having had the time you did with her, and that in itself will be one of the ways you honor her memory.

That's a good way to keep it all in perspective. I've been trying to respond to @DubfromGA's post as well but couldn't find the words.

What I can say is that my deepest condolences are with you in your loss @DubfromGA.
