I am on my second round of Magna Flow exhaust system installs. Originally had the OEM system removed and replaced with a dual input and 3" single output X 18" muffler. Although I did notice a slight increase in acceleration, the cab noise was unbearable. Had it replaced with a 22" muffler, same configuration, and had a small decrease in cab noise. I lined the cab, including doors, with Kilmat Sound Deadening which gave me a slight improvement. Two comments about my current setup.
    1. I cannot enjoy my expensive Kenwood sound system.
    2. The muffler sounds like a V6! Buzzing instead of a refined rumble.
Can anyone recommend an exhaust system that offers performance without the 85-decibel cab noise?

Absolutely. The stock system is great. You're not really gaining anything except noise installing an aftermarket system, you aren't adding any substantial performance (some backpressure is beneficial in EFI systems).

If you want a little more noise, stick with OEM and delete the resonator. If you believe the amount of backpressure Toyota designed the system with is detracting from performance, the major pinch point is where the Y-pipe comes together; if you open up/replace the Y-pipe, you'll remove the brunt of restriction.

But on the bright side, hopefully you didn't make the mistake of also adding a hot air intake kit, like the bullshit K&N sells.

Just remembered though, there is a sticky thread you might've missed which coveres exhaust sounds: https://www.tundras.com/threads/1st-gen-exhaust-clips.60466/

One thing they don't get into enough is exhaust drone. Like, how much drone you're going to get traveling at 55-5 steady on the interstate.

My flow master 50 series was relatively quiet and had a great tone to it. @dirtydeeds makes Tundra specific exhaust and can tune to your liking.

It is possible @dirtydeeds can make you one of his resonators to drop the tone and the drone.
I had a Flowmaster 2 in / 1 out with the drone from hell.
I added his rez and it killed the drone and made the muffler sound stock.

Although these days I run his 10" BAM.
It's the perfect balance of loudness and minimal drone..
