It seems Pioneer isn't as reliable as they used to be...Anyone having issues with unit restarting intermittently? It has done this 3 times in a twenty hour trip. Wired to stock harness. This is really pissing me off.

Yup, mine does it every once in a while and when it does it once, I know to expect it again that day. Sometimes several times.

Yes I’ve only had the unit in for about a month and I’ve already experienced this twice.

The thing that really pisses me off is i have a 400 dollar pioneer in my camry, no issues with it whatsoever. I'm fairly certain I bought the extended warranty for the 8600 Thanks....

Being that this is a common issue, does anyone think that it might be a power issue referring to the ground? I saw a post online about another brand (I don't recall but possibly the Dasiata unit for the 4Runner) doing the same thing and they all disconnected the ground from the harness and attached it directly to a frame ground behind the dash and never had the issue again.

I had this happen in the distant past, and it hasn't happened since. It just hasn't been a frequent issue.

I do seem to suffer from a finicky connection though. Like the phone will connect fine when first starting out, but if I make a quick stop and jump back in, I have to fight like hell to get reconnected (and I have to pull over to a stop to do so).

Or, if I go out and start the truck to warm it up, when I return with my phone, it'll refuse to connect.

And then occasionally, when I switch between media types (like listen to music, then listen to a podcast, then go back to music) I'll get silence. Still connected, clock on the music is running, but no sound. Usually, I'll turn WiFi off and then back on to fix that.

this stuff happens way more frequently now than during the first years after installation.

I seriously doubt it is an issue with the ground. Never had any issues with the factory radio for the previous 3 years i had the stock radio.

Anyone having an issue with wifi? This thing will not detect my iPhone hotspot. Tried rebooting the unit, rebooting the iPhone. Nothing helps. It will only detect the wifi from the house. Very annoying. Any suggestions?

In three years mine has done that 4 or 5 times. Turning down the amp in OEM settings seems to have reduced the frequency of the occurrences.

Mine will do it quite a few times over a couple of days and then it's good for weeks. It's almost like it loses power. I may still try the ground fix that i saw online for another brand that did the same thing.

Is this possible with other similar head units? Also, does all this still apply to JBL equipped trucks?

You should be able to install the HU of your choice, but I'd recommend doing specific research to verify fit and function.

No, if you have JBL, do some searching on this site to see how you'll need to proceed. The systems are quite different.

Yea, my Pioneer does it almost daily. I thought I recall when I did a firmware update I lost the ability to program my front/back camera to a steering wheel button so I could look at them while driving. I thought I lost that ability so I went back to the older firmware. I think I'll try updating the firmware again and just hope I don't lose that ability. I hate the turning off/on shit

So I installed the newest Firmware and I lost the ability to view the 2nd camera using the steering wheel controls. I programmed it the same and tried all other types of programming but couldn't get it. I tried to load the firmware that was an earlier release but had the same issue. Tried the firmware that was the next release form the one that I was running but still couldn't see the front camera. I installed the same version I was running and BOOM, it came back. I relocated where the Maestro module was when I put back all of the wiring as to hope maybe the location was causing it to get hot and that was what was driving the random turning off of the radio and the in/out of the Sirius radio (I relocated that module as well.) Time will tell.....

I didnt even know you could or hot to program cameras to it. Hell I would just be happy if I didnt have random reboots.

Yea, when you flash the Maestro it asks you how you want to program the steering wheel functions on the left side of the steering wheel. There is a drop down menu for each of the buttons on the left side. Volume up/down, seek/scan, front/rear camera, etc.... What pisses me off is that apparently in newer versions of the firmware they got rid of viewing the front camera. I can switch the front camera and connect it to the rear camera input on the Pioneer and when I shift into reverse or push the button I have programmed for the rear camera it will show the front camera. So I know the front camera is working, they just removed the signal for the front camera viewing on the Maestro. Unless I need to change some setting on the receiver after installing the newer firmware, but if that's the case I would just be guessing on which options to change....F that!!
