The service records look pretty clean on the 1794 edition, but there was an accident in 2018 or $5000. Something with the rear end

You could use that to negotiate a better price. I would be concerned if it was repaired properly. Was it bought damaged, repaired then being sold or did the previous owner have an accident and have it repaired? If it was purchased damaged with the intent to resale chances are that the repair was done to maximize profit. Also does it show a salvage title?

yeah it was in 2018. The truck was repaired right then and they still drove it. It only had like 20,000 km on it. It now has 117,000 so it was already repaired prior. It shows it in the Carfax.

Judging by the repair prices on Toyota trucks, it was probably a scratch from a rogue shopping basket in grocery parking lot.

Should be fine then, a bad repair would have shown itself by now. Still use it as a negotiating tool and make sure it doesn’t have a salvaged title. Have it inspected if you’re serious about it.

well guys unfortunately it looks like only the 2013 is left available. I’m gonna look up the service records through Carfax. If everything looks good should this be a solid buy?

Be patient, something else would come along. The 2008 had more issues than the 2014-2018. Also being that old frame rust is a concern.

Just thinking, because you don’t tow heavy why not consider a Tacoma crew cab with the long box? You will be able to haul almost as much as a tundra with the 6’ box. You will also get better mpg and the truck will cost less. 2015 and older with the 4l engine are built proof but watch for frame rust. 2018 to 2022 Tacomas are not as reliable but still good.

I do have both kids so I’m probably gonna consider just a double cab tundra. I’m looking at one from a Lexus dealer with 111,000 km on it. It’s an SR 5+2019 5.7

+1 on tundar. When I was originally buying one back in 2010, my plan was to go for tacoma. But when I saw how close in price both pickups were, I opted for the tundra. I think most of the tacoma sales come from elderly homeowner folks or those who aren't sure why they need a pickup, but buy one anyway.:crapstorm:

It you have all the service records and shows oil changes every 8,000kms, I wouldn’t worry about that mileage. Do have a look and see it the cam towers are seeping and make sure their isn’t a coolant leak at the heat exchanger. Also inspect the frame from rust. Also if they have a bed liner installed, check under the liner for rust. 2008-2012 were known to have bed rust holes and people cover them up with a bed liner. I would also have it checked out by an independent shop.

The 4.6l is the same as the 5.7, just a smaller bore and less HP and torque. Toyota stopped offering the 4.6l because it didn’t really offer better mpg and most of the sales were going 5.7. There is nothing wrong with the 4.6 and just as reliable. You will take a bit of a hit when you sell it because of the DC and 4.6. If you don’t plan on towing heavy and don’t need the quick acceleration then I wouldn’t worry about it.

Looks decent. It looks to have a spacer lift which isn’t a good thing. Owners will spacer lift their truck and because of the lift you can never get the alignment back to spec. My dealership that I work at would spacer lift their trucks and when I performed the alignment you can’t bring it back to factory spec. Tires would wear on the outside edge. No running boards to getting in and out can be challenging. You can’t see it in the pictures but most lifted Tundra without running boards will have the left side of the seat cushion collapsing because they slide their butts on the edge as they get in and out. Also appears to have BFG tires, which are loud at highway speed. It’s also not a Toyota dealership so likely it’s an auction purchase. I think the 4.6l Tundra is the better buy. Less money, Toyota safety sense, Toyota used vehicle certification, newer and with less miles.

Looks pretty clean for 341,000kms. I see that it’s had a frame recall done. To fail the frame recall we would use a welding hammer and see if we could punch holes in the frame. Make a hole and it fails. Most of the trucks that came in had other rust issues as well. The truck looks very clean so be careful that it’s has been to a body shop for rust repair and paint. Tundras that were taken care of never qualified for a frame replacement because the owners did their due diligence and the truck was washed top to bottom often. See were I’m going with this?

I wouldn’t pass on it, but it would need to be inspected very closely. If it’s been painted, pass on it. I would also peek under the box liner for holes in the bed. Box liners can be a quick way to cover up a problem and older Tundras a know to develop rust holes in the bed.
