Been using these batteries ever since moving to Fl in 06. Warranty is excellent and price is reasonable when compared to the other BIG brands.

I really enjoy it, been with them for almost 7 years now. They really take care of their employees and it’s just an overall great company to work for.

These terminals look super sketch. When I was a technician, I accidentally dropped a wrench on some big open terminals like this and it was quite the fireworks show. I still have the 17mm gear wrench with a melted edge on it too.

I just installed a Full Throttle 27F AGM. Before I installed I was showing roughly 145 miles to empty. Once I installed the new battery and the computer reset, it showed 200 miles until empty. Weird. So I refilled the tank and it normally shows 415 miles until empty, it showed 602. I''m assuming it's because the computer reset, after installing the new battery, and will recalculate after driving a bit??

Correct. Probably also died the first time you tried to fire it.

I like the AGM primarily due to being sealed and maintenance-free.

Just remember if you go with AGM, that you must add a diode or use a tender regularly.

If you don’t just add a voltage booster you’re doing it wrong.

i have a hood solar panel specifically connected to the battery, would that provide enough juice for an AGM?

Do you really have to add a diode or booster if the truck came with the larger alternator with the tow package?

I have a NorthStar AGM battery and connect it to a trickle charger about once a month. Takes maybe 15 seconds to plug it in. That's fairly maintenance-free in my estimation. My post pertained primarily to not having to add fluid since the AGM is sealed.

You’re using the ALT-S circuit to trick the alternator into outputting a higher voltage. I think the standard electrical system gets like 13.4v or something. The size of the alternator shouldn’t matter when it comes to the actual volts the system calls for.

So I threw a meter on my battery after sitting almost 24 hours and it was showing 12.4v and when I started it it jumps to 14.1v with the truck running. That seams like plenty of volts being thrown at the battery. IDK I'm no expert in electricity or batteries.

I go with the costco battery , just because they are the easiest to deal with in case there is a problem. They know how to treat their customers

Correct me if im wrong, but I believe all (or most) car batteries are made by just 1 or 2 companies. One is Johnson controls I forget if there is another company.
So in most cases the only difference between 15 different brand name batteries is the colorful sticker and brand name they put on the outside.
And when youre buying one that has a 60 month warranty compared to one with a 36 month warranty , chances are its the same exact battery , and youre just paying the extra price for the extended warranty and possibly a different looking sticker on the outside.
There may be a few exceptions , but if you research, the information is out there.

The consensus seems to be 27F but why do all the battery websites including Toyota’s state 24F? Which is it? Cold cranking stuttered this morning and my battery is 4 years old/ 36k odo so I think it’s time for replacement.

I recently replaced my NorthStar 27F AGM with a 24F AGM just because of the weight difference. Got tired of having to wrestle a 70 lb. battery out of and into my truck.
