32 gallon tank swap COMPLETED!

Well thx. I stand corrected. Every TRD/OR I looked at had the 32GA. I’ll dig out my window sticker tomorrow. I remember some stickers called it out as an option and some didn’t even list it even though it had the 32.

They are right, the bigger tank would be more convenient, I can live without the other Nannie’s.

 

Tank acquired. Had to remove the passenger seat to get it in the RAV4 and the gasoline smell wasn't noticed until I got out and got back in but it was very mild and didn't "stain" the car. Once I removed it and put it in the garage it aired out just fine.

Won't be installing it for a few days I ordered what I believe is the strap you need to complete it. I'm currently waiting on 3 things.

1. I have an open warranty for my door seals and I'm275 miles from my warranty being up.
2. The strap. Figured I'd complete the install and do it all at once. 776020C170 here's what I believe is the strap assembly. I have no idea if it comes with the bolt and pin I need yet.
3. To be low on gas. Don't want to try dropping it while it's half full.

Will make a new post with a "guide" or what will more realistically be "My struggles."
Also I talked to my dealer about getting the ECU to read the new tank correctly. They didn't say no. They said they don't know. No ones asked them this before. So they didn't sound optimistic but not outright denying it. Will update on that too.

 

I know you need to order 1 strap and bolts, but other than that I wonder if you order Part Number: 770010C160, will it be coming with everything else you need?

So it does not come with the bolt or the pin needed. But I'm going to put a jack under it and pull one of the bolts from the other straps and go by my parts store to find one that matches. Then for the pic I think I'll just get a nut and bolt that will fit in the socket as I don't want to wait a year and a half for a dealer to send me the bolt/pin.

When I bought my 2023 SR5 4wd, I looked into the possibility of upgrading. It did surprise me that you can't order it as a complete kit under one stock number. All the parts have to be ordered separately.

I do remember the service tech telling me that they have to do something to the onboard computer to "tell it" that it now has a 32 gallon tank. That may have been the issue with the distance to empty reading being a bit wonky.

Still on my "to do" list along with skid plates for my truck...
