The last couple years I have noticed a big uptick on how much they are putting down. I've also noticed a big uptick on weather channels doing fear porn and tricking people into thinking big snow/storms are coming and then they never materialize. I am guessing that towns are trying to prep to avoid being embarrassed on the news for not prepping.

Since apple nuked the dark sky app, weather predictions in my life have been nothing but a complete joke. Not sure if anyone else has had similar issues or the valley I live in is just strange. Could also just be getting older and being nostalgic? But I'm not even 40:monocle:

Could just be me and the wife's commutes. I know Stow and Bolton have switched over to brine solutions, which I'll take traditional salt over every time. My town and (from what I can tell) the surrounding towns are still salt/sand combinations, as is Rt 2 all the way into Alewife and then into Boston. Whatever it is for my experience, I'll take it. Been lucky to not have it rust our vehicles out, but I got the truck coated last year since it's likely a 20 year vehicle for me. Has been strange learning to not get an undercarriage wash, though. We live in NE. Undercarriage wash isn't even a question if going through a carwash. Not until now, anyways.

Happy Friday folks! Just picked up my 21 TRD Pro this week and joined up here. Good to see the Tundra community is strong up here like the Taco community.

Thanks all and looking for recommendations on undercoating before they treat the roads.

Dark skies on Garmin InReach is still reliable. Costs $.50 for forecast, though.

Apple bought Dark Skies a few years ago and wiped it from mobile phones. It was 1000000% the best weather app I had ever used, and I am absolutely confused on why they ruined it and didn't add the quality to the apple weather app.

I gave up on smart stuff though and went with a dumb phone and a watch that doesn't even do blue tooth.

    Welcome!

I have used New England Rust Prevention (https://www.nerustprevention.com/) in Ayer, MA. I found them on the NHOU website and they did a great job. Just make sure you get any suspension work done before you get things treated. Stuff works, but it is rather disgusting to work in/under when it is fresh. Sean (the owner) even dropped both of my catalytic converter shields during the process to ensure everything was treated. I'm about to get my truck retreated this year and our new vehicle treated immediately upon delivery.

I am in western Mass and use East Coast Refinishing in Pittsfield. Have used them for 3 years or so now, they do a good job.

I was worried that Apple may kill the weather service on InReach, yes. It is irreplaceable in wilderness where there's zero weather stations in hundreds/thousand miles around.

Yeah, old school is the way to go. Dumb watches, dumb compass, dumb Mossberg 500, dumb V8 ;)

I had my 19 Tundra sprayed with Noxudol 1600 (tar-like) outside and 700 (wax) inside the channels. It held up exceptionally well, given that I scrape the frame in ice/mud regularly and power wash with 3400 PSI washer afterwards. Noticed it started to dry up after 4 years, so resprayed it lightly. 1600 doubles as sound deadening.

Wife's 22 Sequoia was also sprayed the same way while new.

There's still rust spots happening in untreated places after our salty winters. In spring I give a good undercarriage wash (have adapter for power washer), dry up, crawl under and spray everything I can find. Compared to neighbor's 18 Tundra mine is mint.

You can go to Jason @jpereira2 on Tacoma World. He sprays wool wax right from his house in Taunton and he only charges a fraction of the price a shop would. If anybody wants his contact number you can pm me.

    Welcome!

For future reference, what do they do to treat the inside of the frame rails? I’ve had POR-15 on my truck since 2012 and it’s done great job externally.

Unfortunately, it hasn’t helped the rusting internally.

    Hi Bill,

To my knowledge, they have all the wands and magic sticks that get up inside every hole, crevice, plug, etc. they can find. I don't stick around to watch. Small shop and they are suited and masked with cat litter/speed dry all over the shop floor so they don't fall. Not really a spectator friendly environment.

He did a great job on the brand new Sienna, too. Phone is best to reach him since he's typically under a vehicle and voicemails get returned before emails.

    Howdy,

Located in central MA. On Monday I brought home my first Tundra. 2020 SR5 4WD Double Cab Long Bed, 65K miles. Picked it up in Vermont. Only picture I have so far with the quad already loaded up in the back in prep for this weekends camp trip.

Coming from a leveled 2013 F150 regular cab long bed with 34" tires and Bilstein 5100's all around, it's strange having a stock height truck where I can see the top of the roof with

Anyone around here have a go to shop for leveling shocks, TRD sway bar, and RAS installs? I'm pretty sure I can do the TRD and RAS myself with a jack and stands. I'd like to get the suspension work handled before getting things undercoated. I see that there's shops doing NHOU undercoating. Anyone around here have a line on someone who does lanolin based undercoating in the area? I've used the aerosol cans of PB Blaster Surface Shield in the past but I feel like an actual compressed air spray gun with product will do a much better job getting the product where it needs to be.

Thanks for the compliment and recommendations! Both places are not far from where I'm located.

I can't believe I totally forgot about Mike, I grew up not far from his shop. I have a familiarity with him through another hobby, it's been several years. Real meticulous guy, runs a tight ship. Thanks for jogging the memory with that one!
