I couldn't wait around, absolutely shifts are much better! Bites good now, reminds me of quick shifting a manual. Didn't get into the higher gears but 1st through 4th feel tight

Would like to know if anyone with a IPT/Level10 VB and a WAT VB owner meet up to check each other's out to see if they are comparable driving wise...

I'm going to assume we depleted their core supply.

I’m thinking the same thing. Do you have to return your stock VB or could people keep it and eat the $450 core charge?

If you don't want the core charge back, you keep the core.

With the short drive last night I did not tune any of the Trans tables. Albeit didn't do WOT runs.

Nope! If anything, it feels better with the transmission stuff that was done previously from OvT...

Oh just a heads up to make life easier when refilling the trans. All the transfer pumps out there are shit imo. So went with simple funnel through engine bay with 5/8" outside diameter hose. 5/8" fits the Trans fill hole tight making it easier to fill quickly. May save some unnecessary waste of time using a pump

My transmission is stock but on the highway, it seems to not be regularly shifting to 6th (rpms are not super high, just feels not up there) If I shift to S, it is at 4th & I have to bump the shifter 2x to get 6th.

    Is that normal?

Also, while I am waiting for the new motor, I am installing AEM water/meth injection in the BMW, I have Boost Juice, do I dilute it with distilled water or run it 100%?

Are you on a flat or hilly? Mine will downshift to 5th dependent on terrain it seems. And 4th in S at higher speeds

Not sure about shifting to 6th but going to 4th is normal. The boost juice is already mixed at 51/49(w/m). You can cut it with distilled water for 60/40 or 70/30 if interested but 50/50 is standard. 100% can be dangerous and caustic to certain parts

At the time I noticed it, I was in the middle of the desert about 100 miles before Az, it's pretty flat. I guess it is just me. lol

Thanks MDL on the boost juice info!

I do the same thing, or if the bottle accepts a fill top cap, I just plug that straight in to the line from the engine bay. Works a charm.

I was going to ask if your transmission was warming up (it will refrain from overdrive if not warm) but remembered that you live immediately adjacent to the surface of the sun…

Curious what the motor and trans temps are when it does that? I don’t recall my tree holding gears when we drove 8 of 18 hours hours in 110+ temps on the freeway.

On the tundra at highway speeds on a windy day (or pulling a trailer), it will hold overdrive gears until engine load gets above -3. Somewhere between -3 and +2psi it will downshift. But I’m at altitude and much further from the surface of the sun.

I was 5 hours into the 7+ hour return home. As a rule, the trans is 195-203, and the engine is 200-208. The ambient was about 95. I was averaging 75-80 when not getting around asshats that furnish the passing lane.

There was a stretch where the right lane sucked & all the fucking semis were in the passing lane, lots of frustrated passing then.

That is normal...it's annoying for sure. On trips or longer hauls around, I throw it in S6 and it does fantastic...but I'm not sure if that hurts anything...I dis this for a year prior to the VB upgrade. Still, in D, it only goes into 6th if I'm above 78mph...it is normal to throw it into S and start in S4...I do the same with the quick taps to S6...nuances of the truck but perfectly normal.

Good call and I forgot to suggest...transfer pu.os are still annoying and messy...I bought 10ft of 1/2" ID tubing and a right-angle barbed fitting and threw a funnel on...made it so much easier to fill. Cost me $18 at Ace Hardware for that easy button!

Truck defaults to 4th when you move the shifter to S mode. That’s normal. If you are running 75mph and go from D to S, you should feel a big downshift and the rpm’s should shoot up.

My truck will go into 6th at around 50mph so if you are at highway speeds you should definitely be in 6th gear.

Thank you gentlemen! Having just replaced all the fluid & the torque converter, I'm sensitive to it's behavior, on my 185k 2010 Crew Max, I killed the transmission 2k after 2 drain & fills.

1/2 to a quart. No more than a full quart after the trickle.

I did a 5k mile drain and fill on mine this past weekend. It seemed like an awful lot of fluid came out. I didn't measure it, I just drained it into one of the big pans at work that hold like 30 quarts. My memory says that I may have been nearly a quart over, but this time I refilled with 4.5 qts and called it good, I didn't bother with the trickle shenanigans. It actually shifts much better, particularly what used to be the hard 1-2 shift. That mellowed markedly, same with a vast majority of the F-R transitions. I ain't touching it for another 5k.
