Has anyone noticed that i happens more frequently in the summer vs the winter. I bought my vehicle in Jan 2024 and the first fuel gauge malfunction occurred June 2024 and then persisted throughout the summer and since October the problem seems to have went away. I suspect it will return once it warms up. hard to explain why. I also noticed when filling my tank when the gauge was malfunctioned the nozzle clicked before it put any fuel in the tank; this happened twice. to me it almost seems like the tank builds up with pressure when it malfunctions due to the heat; completely speculation but probable we know more than Toyota on the issue as they seem to have ignored it thus far; dealer told me update is coming "soon".

Similar to the throttle lag problem, the fuel gauge issue only affects a small fraction of Gen 3 Tundras.

I suspect these type problems drive Toyota engineers and techs crazy, just like they do to owners of trucks that have the problems.

I have a tundra 2024 since end of september. The fuel gauge issue happend today April the 13th on my 2024 Tundra, here in Québec temperature rised up this weekend. My driveway is leveled up. I had half tank and it showed completely full. I stopped to a gas station and filled 5 gallons of gas, then it showed 3/4 full. I will report to Toyota service, but with all I read in this thread I'm hopeless in any miracle fix!

No permanent fix as far as I know. This should work to reset it though.

This problem affects a lot of trucks 22 to 24. I haven’t found temp to affect it at all. Happened from Summer to 20°f in Winter for almost 2 yrs now every time it’s parked nose up in the driveway at 3/4 of a tank. Much faster reset I use is shut the truck off on a level surface in D with just one Start/Stop button click. This leaves the main power on. Watch the dash and you’ll see the oil pressure reset and then the fuel gauge drop from full to its correct level. Shift to N, start back up and you’re good to go. Toyota has still refused to acknowledge this problem across 3 yrs of the Gen3. Seems to have mysteriously disappeared in 2025 models.

Any issues with doing this? It would seem to not be too good on the transmission or engine.

Our trucks shut off while in gear all the time at stop signs. I wouldn't worry about it. Funny thing is that Tundra Mike's procedure doesn't work for me. I have to use the one i posted earlier.

I just tried this method and it didn’t work. I have a digital display if that helps. I did the odometer button method and that did work.

That’s right. Some with digital have reported that before. Thx.
*Yesterday was a first. Parked in driveway overnight with a 1/2 tank and in the am it went to almost 3/4. Pshhhh…

Started happening to mine after about 4 months, 8/2024 build. It happens between full and 3/4 never below. Don't ever park on an incline. I do the turn off in neutral reset and it seems to work on the gauge but not miles to empty? Rediculous, I have a 20 year old Moto with an unreliable fuel gauge and have to refuel based on mileage, this is a 2024 $60k vehicle and I'm doing the same thing? I am really happy with everything else though...
