If I am doing the correct math at 350 miles at full tank, I'm at maybe 13.5. I've even made a 600 mile round trip with eco turned on and still didn't change. If I had a bigger tank I wouldn't be a whine but about the MPG.

Maybe I’m not understanding your response, but the difference between stock tire circumference and your 37” tires is over 15%. So, if your ODO says you traveled 350 miles on a tank of fuel, you actually traveled 403. The truck is correctly recording your fuel consumption but incorrectly calculating the miles traveled, so it’s giving an incorrectly low fuel economy reading.

So, even the till empty is not a correct reading? How could I get an actual till empty reading?

    Lots of stuff!
The DTE and Range are given calculated for you based on your typical usage. These are all part of the GOM system (Guess O Meter) and that term doesn't exist by the way.

It won't take into account the changes to tire size or road conditions or head winds.

Just a good "guess" to give you an idea of how far you could travel!

‘you can’t, but since your odometer, speed, and DTE are all off by the same percentage, they will count down to E at the same rate.

Im confused, you're complaining about the MPG rolling on 37s?

like the other fella stated, your tires are almost 5" bigger diameter than stock, your ODO and everything else is way off now

Stop and go traffic is NOT a trucks friend. (well at least mine)

    Highway mileage is MUCH nicer.

Heck yeah, I was just shocked that it's that low of MPGs.

O man, are you new to trucks?

not trying to be a jerk at all, so please don't take it that way. I'll try to help you understand, your actually getting pretty good MPG for what you have

    1) you can't just use the dash DTE or ODO to hand calc your MPG like you can stock, your tires are almost 5" bigger in diameter than stock, so when it says you drove a mile, you actually went further so it looks like your getting less.

    2) you added a SHITLOAD of rotating mass at each corner and I bet those 37"s weight what 90 lbs? Stock is 38 lbs. This KILLS MPG big time , 3-5+ MPG depending on driving conditions and driving style. Not sure what you did for wheels, that could be even more depending what you got if not stock.

    3) you also, raised your truck and that impacts aerodynamics which also reduces MPG

There are online calculators to help and see what your actually getting due to the changes to the tire size, its better than what you are seeing, but that is not going to to help with all that size, weight, etc,

you have to pay to play if you want to roll 37"s, and if thats what you want, just forget about MPGs, wanting that plus 37" isnt going to happen no matter what you drive.

no worries my but stays hurt. 20" on 37s. I'm just probably use to having company trucks and not looking at fuel usage or working close to home. Now it's a pickup >personal/work.

I have about 1900 miles on my 24 Limited CM TRD Off-Road. According to the mpg gauge I get about 16 to 17 mpg with short drives to work. Temperatures were about 40ish Fahrenheit. Last Thursday it dropped into the 30’s and the wind was blowing like crazy. I didn’t warm up the truck, started it and drove. I noticed the RPM was a lot higher and the fake engine noise was louder lol. I also noticed when the engine warmed up the fake engine noise was still roaring and the turbo meter was showing high on psi. Apparently this truck isn’t very aerodynamic and doesn’t like driving in the wind. I got about 11 mpg. Later that day and the following next days the temp was higher and no wind. Mpg went back up to 16

What’s the formula? I put 285/65 R20s on a few weeks ago and am getting high 12 MPGs.

What is winter blend, anyway? Why would the gas quality go down based on the season?

Forget the tires. Fill tank. Note mileage on a GPS unit. Drive at least half a tankful. Fill up, and calculate consumption from the GPS recorded mileage.

The only "formula" is just the ratio of the circumference of the tires. The factory size was 265/60R20, which is 102.1". The 285/65R20 is 108.6". It's a 6.5% difference, so the number of miles driven on the measured fuel is actually 6.5% too low. So, since fuel economy is miles/gallon, just multiply the result by 1.065, so if you were getting 12.8, it's really 13.6.

I'm surprised you're that low. I have 295/65R20, and corrected for size I'm getting 17.1 with my 35" tires.

I get between 12 mpg and 22 depending on my drive. Basically anything that gets the turbos going tanks the mileage.

I think he was just talking about mpg correction. That would only be diameter. Width would count a little for wind resistance, and weight only for stop and go, or rather just go...

Yep, that would be the other big red light I would like to see on my dashboard, besides friction brake actuation. Hitting the brakes to actuate charging is not too bad - actually as the Prius hypermilers say though, to maximize your mpg "stay out of the battery". Charging and discharging the battery is only about 50% efficient.

Not for the purposes of correcting the dash mileage reading. It’s literally miles traveled divided by gallons of gas consumed. The gallons measurement is correct; the miles traveled is based on the computer counting wheel revolutions and converting it to miles traveled based on the factory tire size. When you upsize the tires, one revolution of a tire covers more distance than the computer gives credit for. And the ratio it’s off is the ratio between the new tire diameter (or circumference — they’re rationed the same) and the old tire diameter.

I live up a mountain, and there are a lot of hills around my house as well. You would think the downhills would even out the up hills. But it doesn’t seem to work out that way. I’m getting 12 to 13 indicated mpgs with these tires.

There are far too many factors to calculate what's going on with your MPG.

Stock 24 Tundra limited here. I'm only seeing 14 mpg 15 if I keep it under 70mph. deff not what I was expecting . my old 2015 Ford F150 3.5 echo was getting 20mpg.
